The fellow yelppers are correct again. Great food, amazing flavors. Perfect price and busy happy staff. The food tastes better then the photos, and the photos look amazing.

I've never had Peruvian food, and was glad to try it here. Saltado de pollo was so good. I thought the rice would be too much with the fries but it was perfect. And can we talk about the green hot sauce. I need a bottle to take home. This is a small place and can get packed quickly. My coworkers and I ordered over the phone to pick up during our lunch break.

My sis in law turned me on to this place as her family is Peruvian. The dishes range from light grilled chicken with chimichurri to hearty lomo saltado. I also tried the papas huancaina. They are potatoes slathered with a creamy and lightly spicy sauce. The flavor reminds me a little of curry or tumeric. The portions here are great for sharing and if you're the type that can't make up your mind on what to order it's a good idea to order a few plates and share between the family so you get to try some of everything. The only downside is how crowded it gets here on the weekends. The place was not made to accommodate the big crowds of customers on weekends.

Came in not sure what to expect, I know it's always busy I drive by and always notice its packed. I'm not big on beef or pork so I went with the grilled chicken, rice and mashed potatoes. I also got the chicha morada. Overall I enjoyed the meal very much. It was super busy from the moment I arrived to the moment I left. I see a lot of comments complaining about wait time, but let's be realistic. I'm sure they were not expecting to be that busy when they opened up. Now that they got a reputation, it's hard to be faster when you can only fit one oven for the chicken. I'm sure they want to make the kitchen bigger but nothing more can fit. Be mindful of this whenever you visit a new location. If you don't wanna wait go to McDonald's they will have your food ready in 30 seconds. Grill a meat patty or chicken at home see how long it takes. 30 seconds? Now your whole neighbors showed up and they all want a chicken, but you got only one grill that can fit 3 chickens at a time, but you don't got space for another grill, how long till everyone has their food? I would suggest to call your order in ahead of time. Mr. Pollo is very good, they are trying to find a balance, in time vs quality. As well as supply vs demand. I hope they can find a bigger location to move too but what if they can't find one, would you be willing to drive to visit or would it be the same trade off, they get your order out in less than 10 minutes but the drive is 30 same thing.

Chicken is juicy and perfectly seasoned. Among the best tasting chicken I've ever tried. This place is also very generous with their sauces, including a delicious chimichurri, hot sauce, and extremely hot sauce. I personally love mixing a little chimichurri with the red sauce over my chicken. The steak and lomo saltado are a little on the dry side. The lomo sauce is amazing and I think it would go great with a vegetarian dish, if they offered it. The portions are definitely on the small side. I could eat a whole chicken by myself and I don't consider myself a big eater. Be prepared for a long wait. I waited approximately 45 minutes for my takeout order during the dinner rush on Friday.

Quick Tip: Make your order on the phone before coming so you do not find yourself waiting a long time for some delicious Peruvian food. Mr. Pollo is located in a little strip mall with other businesses that include Subway, MetroPCS and a donut place. Parking was find for us when we came here 1.5 weeks ago on a Saturday night around 7:30 pm. When we arrived, there was a line at the register and most of the tables were already taken. After browsing the menu board, we ended up getting: Tallarin Verde con Bistek, $11.49 prior to tax- I loved the pasta that came with this dish because of the cilantro/ pesto like sauce on the noodles. They were just so delicious! And of course the meat (beef) was tender and a really big piece of it. The size of this dish could easily feed 2-3 people. Chafu De Pollo, $9.49 prior to tax- I would have to describe this dish as chicken fried rice, which I liked. There were plenty of pieces of chicken in this rice dish. Also the portion size was more then enough for 2-3 people. Loma Saltado, $10.99 prior to tax- Delicious! This is a pretty common Peruvian dish with strips of beef in a tasty savory sauce, with fries. The sauce was pretty good and really goes well with rice. But the sauce itself is a little on the salty side. I believe this restaurant uses the same beef as the one in the tallarin verde con bistek dish. My husband liked the beef in this a little better though. Just like the other dishes we ordered, this dish can feed 2-3 people. ------------------------------------- Total= $34.85 after tax This place would have gotten 5 stars, but what held it back was that we had to wait 45 minutes for our food! That is a long time! After we had ordered the food at the register, the employee told us it would be a 45 minute wait. We said that would be okay but I was really hoping that they would have our food done earlier. But pretty much that employee who quoted us 45 minutes earlier was right on the time because it really did take 45 minutes. Too bad this place doesn't have any WiFi to help pass the time (we we just walked around the plaza and the one next door while we waited). Now there is indoor seating, but only about 20 small tables (sit 2 people at each of these tables) and 3 larger tables (sit maybe 3 or 4 people at these tables). There is a sign that is posted stating that you should order first before getting a table. So it goes unsaid that the tables are for those dining in and not waiting (thus us not waiting inside the restaurant for our food). Just wanted to mention that there is a little help yourself sauce area by the front register. You can ask the employee for some little containers to take sauces home with you. My husband and I truly loved the aji verde and chimichurri sauce and wished we had taken home more. There is also a restroom here but I not sure if it is open to restaurant patrons, as there is a sign that says not for customers. But I think a restaurant goer did use the restroom. I will definitely be coming back here in the future but will be sure to make an order over the phone ahead of time.

The line to order flows out the door and into the parking lot. A big crowd gathers in the dining room and outside the door waiting for their orders. People love this place and it is easy to see why. The food tastes incredible. I had the bistec a la pobre. It was a thin cut of steak with eggs and a scoop of rice. The steak was perfectly seasoned and tender. I drenched the eggs and rice in their green sauce. Mr Pollo's green sauce is the source of Mr Pollo's power. It will dazzle your taste buds and bring you to your knees, begging for more!

This place gets packed! which is very uncomfortable when the line gets across the entire place until the door. Make the line, order, get the table number (or rather, a Peruvian landmark) and find yourself a seat and WAIT :[ The steak was good, too think and well done for my liking, but still I enjoyed it. More on the salty side. It must've been the chimichurri that made it SO DELICIOUS, which is excellent. You could put that Sh*auce on anything. Bright green, they definitely use the herbs at their freshest. The creamy green spicy sauce is also to die for! The garlic infused rice was so good, it seems as though it's the favorite side here. I had the beans and they were great too! so were the plantains. Prepare to have a gallon of water after the meal. The steak + 2 sides $8.99 can and will definitely fill you up. Even 2 can eat one dish. Maracuya (passion fruit) juice was good. Downside of this place is the wait time. Almost 20 minutes? for 2 dishes that require a thin steak grilling and piling on 2 sides that were already made. They need to increase staff. Yes, i would come back. Peak times are the usual, don't come then but rather, in between.

You would think that a place called Mr. Pollo (Mr. Chicken) would serve some bomb ass chicken right? Although they do serve chicken which I didn't try, that is not what people come here for. Its all about their Lomo Saltado and the Tallarines Verde con Bistec. Lomo Saltado is basically stir fry beef with veggies - usually peppers and onions. They add in some fries into the stir fry which is amazing. The white rice soaks up the sauce and its delicious. The Tallarines Verdes con Bistec is basically Pesto Spaghetti with Steak on top. Very delicious and flavorful. However, the star of the meal weren't the entrees! It was their sauces and their drinks. We got the Maracuya (Passion Fruit) drink and it was so bomb. Light and refreshing! They also don't add a shitton of ice so you literally get all juice. Their sauces are amazing. My favorite was the Chimichurri but their Aji sauce was so bomb too. Small restaurant that definitely has that hole-in-a-wall feel. Pretty popular though so it gets crowded.

Damn Mr Pollo. Damn. This place can get busy real quick. So don't be surprised if you don't find a table. It's a small place so get it to go or.....eat in the bathroom. Service was good. They're rushing because of all the orders. Maybe their sweat adds seasoning to the food. I'm kidding.....but really. Secret seasoning? Lomo Saltado: Delicious. Big portion and lots of meat. Most places add small amounts of meat. Thanks Mr Pollo for caring about the customer. Chicken: Delicious as well. Has that smokey flavor because it's firewood roasted. Eat the skin. EAT IT. Add a side of fries and you're in heaven. French fry heaven. Don't forget the mayo. Salchipapa-can't go wrong with this. Wish they had more hot dog to it though. Give it a peruvian touch by adding ketchup and mayo to it. Tallarin Saltado-Really good. Lots of meat and onion. Overall this place is great. Bring your friends and grandma and enjoy.

Oh my my this place was so good! I haven't had too much Peruvian food, but I have to say this place tops. This is a little hole in the wall restaurant, but the food is made fresh to order and it taste delicious. I love how the place is decorated as well. This place is a little on the small side, but it seems to work well. The employees here are really sweet and they seem to love their job. This little gem is definitely a must try.

  • Chrissie M.

Very unassuming place in a strip mall, but they serve delicious Peruvian favorites! Very consistent in their flavors and portions. We love their lomo saltado and their sauces have crack in there I think because they're darn addictive! Paired with fried platanos and it's over! This place gets packed all the time so we usually take it to-go. You can call ahead.

The crazy chicken got nothing on Mr. Pollo. One of the best, perhaps the only Peruvian restaurant in West Covina that indulges you with chicken, steak, rice and fries. The chimchurri sauce is perfect with the steak and chicken, and don't be shy with the sauce because it definitely amplifies your tastebuds when mixed with the chicken and steak. The place has that mom/pops feel to it and it does get really packed, so plan ahead! I was skeptical at first before a friend of mine asked me to try, and then i was definitely sold. If you want a flavorful chicken, I definitely recommend trying this place out! Ambiance:4.3 Flavor: 5 Presentation:4.4 Service:4.6 Price:4.5 Grade: 4.56

This place is amazing. You know when a place is great when the line to the cashier never ends. We dined in and literally there was a line forming outside the door. They are so quick & efficient to bring the food out to all the customers. So from reading all the reviews here the lomo saltado is popular on their list, but I was feeling a steak. So I got a grilled steak on a bed of fries and salad. They give you a very generous portion. The steak was cooked to perfection. So juicy and tender. Oh but the green sauce steals the show. It has a perfect amount of heat. Thinking about it makes my mouth water. Such an amazing mom & pop shop! The staff here is super friendly and patient even considering how many people they serve a day. I am definitely going to come back for their infamous lomo saltado. So this review is a work in progress!!!! I'm sure it will knock my socks off!!!!

Never had Peruvian food before so when my friend suggested it, I said why not! Especially after she had posted pictures of their yummy food. I got the Tallarin Saltado, pasta with steak, chunks of tomato, onions, YUMMY!!!! and a drink of passion fruit (i love passion fruit) chimichuri sauce is the bomb. Add that to your entree, makes everything so much yummier. I piled it on and on. You might as well, because the food portion is plenty enough. The place is small. So if you come during lunch, dinner time, can't guarantee there will be enough seating for your party. Staff was nice. Definitely need to come to try their Lomo Saltado (similar to what I order but with fries and rice) and even try their chicken.... :) *salivating just thinking about it

Probably the best chicken in 50 mile radius that I'm aware of. The chicken is slowly cooked by wood fire and taste is great!

  • Abigail H.

Delicious!!! So glad we found this place as it's comparable to Mario's in LA that we miss so much. I had the chicken fried rice dish and hubby had the steak with the green pasta. Both delicious and filling. The only negative is that the place is tiny so prepare to wait!

  • Jen P.

Love this place. Every time I visit my bro-in-law, I try to swing by this place. I usually get the Tallarin Saltado de Pollo and it's been consistently good over the years. But the best part is the hot green sauce -- that ish will turn any ordinary dish into an exceptional entry. Now that's if you like spicy. If not, you're in luck, the dish is already good. But the green sauce just takes it to the next level of deliciousness. As for the ambience, there's not much to be enamored over. It's not a place I would lounge and sit for hours, but I found that often times, these unassuming places tend to give you the best food.

Very good and fresh and lots of flavors! must try the Tallarin Saltado and rotisserie chicken! they have 4 different sauces one better then the other!! Thanks Mr.Pollo will come back again!

One of my top three go to places when I have a craving for Peruvian food! Consistently prepared, very flavorful and savory, good sized portions that should be filling for most appetites, and reasonably priced: about $26 for entrees and drinks for two. I have been frequenting here for 4-5 years now, and the food has never disappointed. This is not a fine dining establishment, but is a small hole in the wall type of place that is very clean, maintained well and has a fair amount of seating that allows you to enjoy the wonderful food they prepare here ASAP. Location: This is one of those places that are in a less savory part of town, but turn out to be such a treasure that you forget all about it. It is located in a strip mall, with small, tight parking spaces. They have a Vap shop, Papa John's and Metro PCS store as some of their neighbors, but I don't care. Facilities: very plain and simple, also on the small side. There are about 10 small tables that seat two people each but can be moved together for larger parties, and another three table tops that seat up to four people each. Can fill up quickly during the busiest times, and also lead to a line that is out the door. Have a backup plan if you are heading in for a meal at a high demand time unless you have enough time, and intestinal fortitude, to wait. Food: downright good and tasty, makes you want to eat every last bite, sip up every drop and not let anything go to waste. That's what it is all about here, and it is prepared fresh, from fine quality ingredients. I haven't experienced chunks of fat or gristle or fascia or other nastiness in either the chicken or beef dishes I've had here--unlike down other places I've eaten, Peruvian or not. This place is definitely a find, and one of the first group of places that I discovered using Yelp! So thankful for Yelp!, and also the fine, hardworking folks that established Mr. Pollo and continue to consistently deliver some of the best Peruvian food anywhere in Southern California!

Lomo saltado here is soo good!! Only reason why I wouldn't give this place 5 stars is because the wait is so long. Parking is also pretty limited. Will definitely be coming back.

  • Calvin L.

Instant fan! I've heard nothing but awesome praises about Mr. Pollo, and I finally get to try it. Be aware that the line WILL (not can) be long especially during lunch. When I got there, the line was all the way at the entrance. It probably took me 10 minutes just to order and another 10-15 minutes to get my food. Something to keep in mind. Combo 2 (1/2 Chicken + 2 sides + medium drink) ($9.50) I got french fries and mashed potatoes. The chicken is to die for. The half chicken includes a wing, breast, thigh, and leg. Tons of awesome chicken and sides. Winner winner chicken dinner (lame, sorry).

Was real good was surprised. I had the Lomo Saltado my sister had the Tallarin Verde with Chicken, were so tender and juicy on both our plates!! We enjoyed our meals and definitely coming back =)

  • Patty T.

Ordered a whole chicken well done with salad and beans. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and tender. The beans were so flavorful but not heavy. The salad dressing is a light, homemade vinegar/oil mix. The green parsley sauce is a must. The place is small and cramped at dinner time and parking is a little inconvenient because the lot is equally small. I recommend ordering ahead of time and taking it to go. This made it to my regular spots for dinner that is not fast food. Only giving it 4 stars because I haven't tried anything else here. I hope the rest of the menu is as delicious as their chicken.

I've been to lots of Peruvian restaurants... And this is one of the top ones. Top 3 Lomo saltodo in my book. Prices were comparable to other Peruvian restaurants. Can get pretty packed. service is standard...my standard =D

This is a small Peruvian food place. The food is delicious especially their Lomo Saltado. The plates are big enough to feed two people. Perfect place for lunch!

  • Stevo O.

I came here because I heard the food was good from both friends and Borroughs Bites on Channel 5. The food is indeed delicious, and well priced for what you get. I chose the steak, which was just right for my appetite, but the most popular, of course, was the half or whole chicken. There are special sauces available on the counter, and I really liked the green sauce, which seems to be olive oil, and spices. I also appreciated the side of plantains, which could be my personal meal, as it was sooo good. For an informal meal, I would highly recommend this place, although the service may be slower than you're accustomed to.

The best rotisserie chicken I've had. I came here not expecting much, i was impressed with the great tasting food. Prices are fair and portions are generous. I will definatelly come back.

  • Lawrence T.

The rotisserie chicken is excellent, marinated, and has some nice spice. It goes good with the green sauce and the chimichurri sauce. Pinto beans and white rice are some items that go good with the chicken. The green sauce is a must try and goes good with the chicken. The skirt steak is also good. It especially goes good with the chimichurri sauce. A favorite place of mine to get good rotisserie chicken

  • R. S.

The chicken was... okay. Certainly not worth waiting around for over 45 minutes. I'm Peruvian and I love trying out new pollo a la brasa places. Went inside into the SWELTERING heat that was way hotter than outside. No AC and no fans, just a closed oven for customers to broil in. Staff was not helpful and got our order wrong (then wanted us to wait another 45 minutes for an extra order of chicken- which we refused since it was well over 100 degrees in there). The sun was blasting into the place and making the environment intolerable. Tried keeping door open to let out some heat only to get yelled at by the rude owners who insisted the door had to remain closed but refused to turn on any ventilation. I guess most customers order to go and don't stay. Wish I'd known. The tallarin saltado was okay, meat pretty tough. The chicken was bland, only the outer skin tasted like herbs. The chicken meat itself was nothing special, slightly juicy but not very aromatic. Frankly, I've had better at other places. I'll stick to Pollomania in El Monte. The aromatic flavor profile there is much better and they actually turn on their AC for customers (also, their Chicha Morada is better and they have anticuchos). If you like bland chicken, this is your place. Also, you should probably make sure your cashiers don't bad mouth customers and laugh at them while at the counter. It's very unprofessional and reflects poorly on an establishment.

OMG their chicken breast is so flavorful and nicely tender! The fries are extra crunchy, and the green sauce is yum, though with a hot afterkick. Portions are big, and prices are reasonable. This restaurant was just an impulse stop that I wasn't very sure about, but man am I glad we did. Drawbacks: really crowded on a Saturday afternoon, and we had to eat in the car. BTW, parking is at a premium. Oh yeah, it's posted that they have no public restroom :(

I have been wanting to try this place for quite some time and I finally got the chance to! Food: Me n my friends ordered the chaufa con pollo (chicken fried rice), lomo saltado, plata and the tallarin con carne. The food was very flavorful and fresh but we have to wait for awhile to get our food. I will recommend this place if u have time on ur hand.

My second time having Peruvian food and it was SOOO GOOOD!! I have only tried Lomo Saltado & it was so yummy. They have this green sauce that is kinda like chimmichurri. That was so good. And their green sauce, so yum. You have to order first before you are able to get a seat. I heard it gets busy a lot but thank goodness there wasn't a wait when I was there. I will def be coming back here & I'm so happy I love by this place!

We researched for places to eat while in the area and came across this place with awesome reviews. When we arrived on a Sunday afternoon, the place was packed. There was literally no table empty! We stood and waited for awhile for a table to open up, then one of the workers told us to go ahead and order first then wait for a table. After we ordered, one of the workers was able to clear off a couple of tables for our party of 8. I ordered the 1/4 chicken with beans and salad, my BF had the half chicken with beans and salad, and i ordered the chicken fried rice for my son. Both of their dishes were massive in portions, but for some reason I wasn't so lucky. i was disappointed. my 1/4 chicken was so tiny :( they gave me the breast and wing part and it was literally the size of my palm. Thank goodness my son couldn't finish his rice so I helped him with it, otherwise I probably would have walked out still feeling famished. Expect to pay about $10 per person for a meal here and don't forget to get the green sauce (available at the counter), be careful it's spicy but it's really good! They do accept cards here (even thought there are no signs saying it).

I love this place. It is not an everyday kind of place but I love it. It gets packed. So don't go during busy lunch time or dinner time. Go in an in between time. The workers here are nice and I absolutely love the green sauce. I get the steak French fry thing that I can't remember the name of right now, but it is delicious! Looked it up. It is called Lomo Saltado. It comes with rice and is totally delicious! I have been back multiple times and will be back again soon.

I can't believe I've been living in this area for 5 years and just discovered this place! Ordered the chicken tallarin and 1/2 chicken w/mashed potatoes and fried plantains. Both were delicious! especially when paired with the chimichuri and jalapeno salsa.

Good food horrible service they need better management or a bigger place to make the customers happy. Food is excellent so its a trade off good food long wait n poor customer attention.

I am not Peruvian food expert but the food here was delicious! I am already wanting to go back even though I just went a couple days ago. There place is very small and although it has a sign, I actually missed the entrance to the plaza and had to turn back around. There are around 10-12 tables insides all set up for parties of 2-4. You order and then grab a seat. We ordered the Lomo Saltado and the Tallarin Verde con Bistec. The other stuff were probably just as amazing but since we were noobs, we stuck with the "safe" dishes. The Lomo Saltado was very flavorful. Better than the few other places I've had it. The sauce was very deep and earthy. Just a little bit goes a long way but I love sauces and the more the better for me! The steak was cooked well and the ratio of fries to steak to onions was perfect. As for the Tallarin Verde con Bistec, it was not as tasty as the Lomo Saltado but don't get my wrong, we still devoured the entire plate. We were hesitant about getting two steak dishes but you don't feel overwhelmed by the amount of steak. The green spaghetti reminded me of pesto sauce but the herbs and cheese used to make the green spaghetti was great. The steak was a bit tougher, maybe due to the lack of sauce like the Lomo Saltado. Like I said, I love sauces and right next to the register is a little sauce bar with the green, creamy (and spicy) sauce that you get at all Peruvian restaurants. Also, there was a minced herb in oil sauce, and a red sauce, which was sour and spicy. Of the three, I still loved the original creamy green sauce. It goes well on everything we ordered and probably everything on the menu. BTW, the restroom is through the kitchen (even though there is a sign that there is no public restrooms). Just as a waitress or waiter and they will let you know where it is. Definitely coming back to try other items on the menu and getting the Lomo Saltado again. SOO GOOD. Salivating as I type... :)

I'm a big fan of Peruvian rotisserie chicken. This place is just OK both for price and quality. Service: 3/5 Friendly, no complaints. Order at the counter and they bring your order to your table. Sauces are self serve at the front Decor: 2/5 Its almost a hole in the wall but has ample seating for around 20 Tables were quite clean Food: 3/5 We had the half chicken with side of beans and fries. ~9.50$ The fries were good, beans are very flavorful. The chicken was fall off the bone tender but on the dry side and not very well seasoned. The green sauce was also on the bland watery and not spicy side. The red sauce was quite good and mildly spicy. The chim churri was pretty good albeit a little too salty I'd come back to try the lomo saltado and eyeing the other patrons dishes, the garden salad side looked promising.

This place is my go to spot for chicken. The chicken is seasoned so well and the meat is nice and moist. Their aji sauce and the chimichurri goes so well with the chicken and their rice. My kids loves their fried plantains. Have to hide it from them so they would eat their meal first.

This is my favorite Peruvian restaurant!!!! Their food is authentic. Lomo Saltado is wonderful here. My husband orders their green pasta thing. Whatever you order, it won't dissapoint. My only request is that they expand because it is so small and can't hold a lot of people.

YEAH! We were supposed to eat at Norms for brunch ... but we didn't realize the time and it was a prime Sunday brunch hour (11am) so across the street, in a strip mall, was this fine establishment. Mr. Pollo. I walked into the smell of rotisserie chicken that you could see being cooked. I liked the simple decor and small space. The menu was on the wall above the cashier and wasn't too extensive. It was perfect. Order at the cashier and they'll bring your food to you while seated. LOMO SALTADO! It was far better than my previous lomo saltado experience. The fries and vegetables were balanced with the amount of beef. Even the rice was flavorful, but not over-the-top so as to take away from the dish. Rotisserie chicken! We also got a quarter chicken rotisserie combo. It was pretty delicious as well. I should have gotten a different side (instead of french fries and fried plaintains) but it was still great nonetheless. Overall I had a great experience here.

Heard about this place through a friend. My first time having Peruvian food and it was so good! The place is on Azusa right by the 10 fwy so it was really easy to find. It was pretty crowded when we went (around lunch time) so consider that! We ordered the Lomo Saltado and the Tallarin Verde con Pollo. The Lomo Saltado is a rice plate with beef, veggies, and fries smothered with delicious sauce. The Tallarin was a green pasta dish. You can either order it with beef or chicken (breaded, grilled). I opted for the chicken and I enjoyed it. The green sauce and the garlic parsley sauce was amazing! It complimented the chicken very well. The whole meal was extremely filling and satisfying. Would recommend.

Perhaps I went on a bad day, but I did not find their highly regarded Lomo Saltado dish to be good at all. If the meat had any flavor, it was drowned out by the heavy handed use of soy sauce to the extreme. It was so salty that it was difficult to eat. The sauce soaked into the fries and rice completely so much so that there was nothing on the plate to balance out the salt except the onions, which I ate all of.

Food was very good and not overly priced. Got the lomo saltado and tallarian con carne. Both were very good with the green sauce (which wasn't as spicy as some people mentioned but very good nonetheless). The only drawback is that it definitely takes a while to get your food (even if it's to-go), which they do warn you about. I think we waited a little over an hour for our food.

I love this place!!!! I try to order different dish everytime i go but the Loma Saldito is the BEST hands down!! The guys who work there are really nice and kind.

Love this place! Probably one of my favorite Peruvian place! It's soooo tasty! Their prices are overall pretty acceptable! I hate how some places the lomo saltado is like $16-20 I'm like wow thats wayyyyy too much esp if their portions are small too! This place however, gives you a big portion or just right for those with bigger appetites! Today, my bf got the grilled chicken breast, it was delish! Super juicy and cooked till perfection! My lomo saltado too forever to get :( we came in before the rush too! My bf was halfway done eating before I got my food, since I didn't want his good to get cold YES, my food was delish as expected, maybe a little bit too salty but still great! Their plantains are really good too, esp the portion if you get it as a side in your combo meal, 4 generous pieces! Last time I got the half chicken, it was kinda dry...so I dont know! I'll try it again though maybe it was just last time!

While I normally do not eat Latin American food, my Peruvian friend brought some friends and I here for Peruvian independence day. I had the tallarian saltado de pollo, and it was totally delicious, although it did have more tomatoes than I would be content with. My friend ordered half a chicken, and he gave me some of it and it was some of the best chicken that I have ever eaten. The portions here are pretty big so do not worry about not getting enough to eat. They also serve Inca Kola here, essentially a soda that tastes like classic bubble gum that is popular in Peru, I recommend it over traditional beverages if you come to eat here.

This place is such a gem in West Covina. It's been here for several years now and only within the last 2 years I've become a regular. My typical choices are between the delicious 1/4, 1/2, or whole chicken, or the milanesa de pollo, with sides of salad, beans, rice or plantains. My boyfriend usually can't make up his mind from the rest of the menu. The Lomo saltado and saltado de pollo are both excellent here. The staff are super friendly and helpful. They work pretty hard to ensure that everyone's orders are perfect. The food is prepared fresh per order, so sometimes you wait a bit, but boy is it worth it!! Everything on their menu is worth a try! *I would've given this place 5 stars, however I reserve that for places that really rock my world.

Delicious.. so crowded though on a Sunday at 5. Order first and they will get you a table while waiting after you pay. My dads first time liked the pollo saltado. I had half rotisserie chicken . Slightly over salty. Sadly no bread like most Peruvian restaurants About $10 plate

This place has awesome Peruvian food. I usually call in my order if I am getting anything other then rotisserie chicken. Once in awhile I get caught with a new batch of chickens being cooked and I have to wait awhile. They use wood fire to cook their chicken. It comes out super juicy and delicious. The rub they use to season the chicken in conjunction with the wood fire roast makes this the best rotisserie chicken I had ever had. Their beef Soltado is delicious, their chicken and beef choufa is sensational. I am not a fan of their noodles (I have had tallarin soltado), I prefer Asian or Italian when it comes to noodles. Both of their green sauces are awesome, one has a kick to it "Ahi"and the other might clog your arteries "chimichurri". Their fruit drinks are really good, I always go for the orange one.

Food is decent. I like the place. Only downside is that it is a small establishment with hardly anywhere to walk. I get my food to go because of how it gets packed. Otherwise, their food is very good.

Mr Pollo, what a find. We've driven by this place many times and sat across the street at Norms for breakfast at 2am. Looking out the window from Norm's I thought Mr Pollo was possibly another chicken rotisserie. Surprise! This is a Peruvian restaurant and a pretty good one. We had no idea what to order, so we checked what everyone else was ordering and it was their native lomo saltado. This dish was a beef steak with sautéed French fries, onions and tomatoes in a simmering sauce, comes with rice and 2 sides. We went with mash and fried plantations. Favoring the plantains. Meat was soft and tasty. The fries thrown in there was a little odd, but not odd enough for me to eat. Also, the 1/2 chicken rotisserie was moist. Yes, there was rotisserie chicken. I can't say the chicken is anything special or different, but it was good. Serve this up with the complimentary garlic and parsley dipping sauce. There was also a jalapeño green sauce-semi spicy. Sauces are next to the registers. There were other items on the menu that I will have to try. Update on that to follow.

I've been here for sure more than 30 times!!! Been coming for about 5 years. Best Peruvian food I've ever had. My Ecuadorian family and I enjoy this place, immensely. Everything you order is delicious: The grilled chicken, the steak, eggs, fries, rice, beans, mashed potatoes, chicha morada, the fried rice, etc. Love, love, love. A definite must eat. I guess the only cons about this place are the small parking lot and small dining area. However, we are always lucky to find seats! :)

This place is DELICIOUS so worth your money and affordable. Never had such great tasting chicken in my life and the green chili sauce is off the chain. I highly recommend the chicken fries and rice plate. The steak plate is very good too.

I've never eaten Peruvian food before and Mr. Pollo has basically changed my life forever. And I mean forever, I'm pretty sure I gained 10 pounds from the constant eating. But hey, at least it kept me from starving during my first year in college! (dorm food is such a drab after a while) It's a hole in the wall so it might not seem that interesting, but step through Mr. Pollo's doors and lo and behold some of the best food you'll ever have. For you broke college kids like me, this place is near Cal Poly Pomona and Mt. SAC, and for about $12 or less, you'll get tons of flavorful, yummy food. The lomo saltado is FIRE. Holy shit. Mariniated steak with fries, sauteed onions, and tomatoes, plus a side of rice. I thought I'd be able to finish all of it but there's actually a lot more than I expected. I also love the bistec a lo pobre, which is a thin steak that comes with fried eggs, fries, and sweet fried plantains. I can't choose which one's my favorite - I love both so equally so it's a problem when I'm in line trying to order haha. The maracuya is also refreshing if you need something to wash your food down with. Like I said, it's a hole in the wall and is really small. Interior's nothing special and it can get loud in there because of the music. But I gaurantee you, Mr. Pollo is worth it. Some of the best food I've ever eaten in my life. If you're not into that, order to-go. I've gone during busy hours and tables do get pretty filled up. TIP: Remember to get the sauces! The spicy green aji sauce is bomb, and the oil, which basically like Argentinian chimichurri sauce, is great on the rice and fries.

First time Peruvian food, LOVE IT! Had the combo 4 chicken breast with salad & fried plantains. EXCELLENT! Tried the green sauce and the other "green" stuff that looks like parsley and they were good additional flavors on the chicken! We also ordered the combo 2 with the 1/2 chicken and it was also very tasty!!! Also had the Chicha Morada drink, that was good too! Yelp does not disappoint! Bookmarking this place and bringing others! Place is kinda small with limited seating though...

I decided to try this place out for the first time, and was very disappointed. I have eaten at many Peruvian spots and this had had to been the worst experience by far. I ordered lamo saltado, and the steak tasted too over cooked. It was too dry, and not to forget they took 50 mins to bring me my food. I literally seen a family come in after me order there food, sit down and eat all of there food and leave, before I even got my food. 30 mins of waiting I had to ask a worker about my food. She said it was going to be 10 more mins, but it didn't come out till about 20 mins later. Will not be returning to this spot ever again.

I've passed by the little strip mall hundreds of times, coming back and forth from the 10 fwy ramps and from trips just going through Azusa Blvd. Never really knowing what 'Mr. Pollo' was all about. Finally, when I was in town for a visit last week..I got to find out. It was awesome! Right when we walked in, the place was overflowing and no available table in sight. Good sign..but we were hungry. So we looked at the menu first as we waited off to the side. Once we figured out what we wanted I walked over to get in line and placed an order so it would be ready by the time we sat down. It took about 10 minutes before a table opened up and shortly after the immaculate dishes of roasted chicken, grilled flat steak, plantains, salad and fries lay before us. For the first 15 minutes, no one talked. This stuff was GOOD, and aside from the abundance of fries they put on the plate, quite healthy. This is a small mom and pops that serves up great Peruvian food that you probably won't find anywhere else in this area. The price is right, and that's cheap. Food quality is up there and servings are plentiful. So I definitely am a fan! Oh.. don't forget their sauces. That green one in the tall squeezable container is out of this world! They need to bottle that up and sell it.

I am a huge fan of peruvian food it's my birthday dinner of my choice every year. I usually go to a place called marios peruvian food in Hollywood and that right there is top notch! Delicious! But this place was pretty good not as good but definitely a place I would go for my peruvian food fix. Lol

Stumbled upon this location after my boyfriend recommended it. Wasn't excited at first because I pictured it to be along the lines of salty and dry like Pollo Inca but I was wrong. I ordered combo #1 which included 1/4 chicken which included two sides and one drink. I happened to have chose the salad that came with a tangy dressing and rice that wasn't as dry as I imagined it to be. A little of the green sauce and everything tastes wonderful. I asked a worker which was their best seller, which they responded to was the lomo saltado. Might try it next time, but I seriously prefer the chicken over anything else. Only downside is you come out smelling like rotisserie chicken but so worth it :)

I don't know how I missed this place in the past 10 years. I have to say their Tallarin verde con bisteck is the best pesto spaghetti I've ever had so far. I'm deeply in love with their rice too. Their rice has slight favor, similar to Chipotle rice, but better! If you want to take out, better to make a phone order first to avoid the wait.

Have tried this place twice and the food is AMAZING. Having never tried Peruvian food before, I didn't know what to expect. I work very close to this place so at work we recently decided to get lunch from here. We got the Loma Soltado (?) with chicken and it was delicious! I don't know what sauce the chicken is marinated in but whatever it is, it tastes great. I also like their version of hot sauce and all the other sauces they have. The place in itself is extremely small so if you're planning to sit down and eat there then good luck. The staff is very patient and helpful which is kind of surprising because they are so busy that I would expect them to be a little impatient. But they are extremely nice and welcoming. Will try more things on their menu soon.

This place is DELICIOUS!!!! Any day, anytime of the day!!! It is a small restaurant, and small places like this is where you find the best foods, I recommend it to everyone!! 5 STARSS!!! Try Lomo Saltado, or just keep it simple with a Cuarto de Pollo...

I discovered this place when a good friend took me here for lunch. We had the saltada de pollo, and a chicken combination with mashed potatoes and salad. Everything was delicious!! The portions were pretty big, so I couldn't finish all of my rice or chicken, but I see that as a positive thing because it means you get your money's worth. The number one thing I noticed was how busy this place was. It was packed for a Sunday afternoon at 1pm! I can definitely see why, the food and the service are fantastic. I highly recommend this place. The restaurant was clean, and the employees were friendly. Come to Mr. Pollo! You won't be disappointed.

ugh, i heard good thing about you and let me down. porque?! the only plus this place has is that it has unlimited chimichurri. i've never seen that at other Peruvian places. as always, get the lomo saltado when you're at a Peruvian place. its a staple, and should be used to judge the food quality of peruvian places. its like going to a hamburger place and them messing up on a simple cheeseburger. i don't know what was up that night, but the lomo saltado and the Tallarin Saltado were not the business. both dishes had dry meat. like chewy dry meat. not a lot of flavor. maybe i should have got the chicken instead... but then again, who the hell eats lomo saltado with chicken?!? don't get me started about the sauces... the aji (green sauce) was one of the worst i have ever had. it was too spicy and it killed all and any flavors. the other peruvian places ive been too, had the green sauce with complementary bread for us to eat and it was delicious. but both the red and green sauce at mr. pollo were difficult to eat. get your shit together mr. pollo. offer free bread or make better aji sauce. i will not be back. if you want peruvian food, venture out to the OC and or LA.

I enjoy getting food from here when I happen to be in West Covina on business. I've made several trips here so far, and I have yet to be disappointed by my dining experiences at Mr. Pollo. So far, I've tried the Lomo Saltado, Tallarin Saltado, and Salchipapa. My favorite so far is the Lomo Saltado, but they are all most pleasing to the palate. I was most pleased by the presence of a condiment bar, from which one can pilfer substantial quantities mayonnaise, chimichurri, and various other condiments. I consider the pricing of their menu items to largely be reasonable for the quality and quantity of food you are provided. The chicha morada was among my more novel beverage experiences. It was not supersweet, and the cloves in the beverage really do have that ever so slight numbing effect on your mouth. Overall, I still probably preferred the Inca Kola and Maracuya. I did order a box of Alfajor cookies from them during one visit. They were not bad, but at ~$8/10, I would suggest you pass on them. Better desserts can be had elsewhere at that price. For those that are wondering, it's not a full-service restaurant - you pay for the food at the counter, and they bring it to your table. The staff has generally been very friendly and helpful during my visits. Be warned that there is often a very long line, and seating is often not available during what appears to be their peak hours. It can be a surprisingly long wait to get your food, but I assure you it is worth it! Parking seemed a bit tight in the lot during each of my visits, but I was still always lucky enough to find a spot. If you are in or near West Covina and want some tasty food, this restaurant should rank very high on your list of candidates to choose from.

Prices are actually two stars not really one. Almost all their plates are more than 10 bucks. Unless u order like half pollo a la brasa with sides which then becomes a lot cheaper but eating that is not really eating Peruvian food. Asides from that the food is really good and portions are good. The wait is long depending on the time u come in. I came in around noon and it was a bit packed. Sitting is not as abundant. This place is a small restaurant and they have a lot of customers so sitting becomes a bit hard

Absolutely delicious!. The only reason it's a 4 star it's cause its a very small resturant and the if you have to use the restroom you have to go through the kitchen. But the food is delicious!

This place is legit. I had the causa, lomo saltado, beans and the 1/2 chicken plate. The causa is a short yellow tower of power, inside that stack is tuna and some starchy stuff, but it's really good. Kinda like eggs and potato and tuna sounds weird but its good. They do a good version of Lomo Saltado, that chinese-peruvian fusion plate of beef, onions, tomatoes served over french fries and a side of white rice. Mix it all up with their sauces its pretty damn good. The Chicken is awesome, very flavorful and juice and you have to eat iwth their sauces. My friend told me the sauces were excellent, I didn't believe him at first because i just dipped my fork into it and tasted it. They actually don't taste like much at all by themselves, just kinda bland. But man once you dunk that chicken into the red sauce or the green sauce, it just pops and tastes amazing! It really wakes that chicken up and takes it to the next level. Had a chica morada as my drink, kinda interesting tastes a bit like Jamaica but with a minty after taste. the maracuya drink, tasted artificial and kinda guava like. Not a fan.

This place is your typical hole in the wall restaurant. Not a lot of chairs, but VERY busy. I tried their green pasta with steak (not sure exactly what it is called), but it was delicious. The steak was cooked just perfectly and whatever sauce they used to cook the pasta with was something I have never tasted before. They have a lot of other interesting food options that I plan on checking out too. I would recommend calling in an order ahead of time since this place does get packed very quickly.

Very small place, located in West Covina. You order first then wait to be seated. Theres about less then 10 tables inside so, there was quite a wait for a party of 4 on a saturday night. We ordered 4 different plates to share. Portions are big and sharable. In my opinion, its much better then Marios Peruvian!!! The lomo saltado was so flavorful and seasoned well. The fries were soft with crispy edges. Everything mixed well together. I loved the green sauce and parsley sauce!!! I will def come back but for take out instead of sit down!!!

Never had Peruvian food and I am glad to discover this place through someone. It is completely different than Mexican food in style, taste, and the general feeling of South American dish. First the establishment is very modest. There are about 12 tables that can seat about 4 each and a couple of 2-seaters. The place is nicely air conditioned. There is one cashier and you can only sit after you order and then they will direct you to your table so don't go in and take a table when it is packed (which is always). This is the only reason for the -1 star. The food I had was the briscket a la pobre which is beef with rice, fries, eggs over easy, and fried bananas. The rice tasted like chicken flavored which I could just eat by itself and be satisfied. The fried bananas is amazing and the beef is very juicy and tender. Don't forget about the dips and sauces located in the counter. Your gonna spend about 10 bucks for a dish and you're going to get a full plate that will stuff you up even if you're super hungry. The place does take out and eat your food with Inka cola. Enjoy!

On this visit, I tried the Chaufa (chicken fried rice). It's delicious. I am a sucker for fried rice and Mr. Pollo makes a really good one for $8.99. My only hangups with this place is their order number system and wait time. Waiting for my order seems to always turn into an adventure. First, there is no place to wait for your food inside. If you do decide to wait inside, you will have to dodge the workers coming in and out the kitchen. I think this place would benefit from having a designated wait area for people just grabbing takeout or a page system. Either way, I will continue to wait for my food while dodging the workers, and people jockeying for position to take any open table.

Took food to go as we came when it was close to closing and the tables were all packed. People kept on coming in though! Food is good, as expected for peruvian food. Haven't had bad peruvian food yet, haha. Definitely recommend the Lomo Saltado though. Might be the only peruvian place in the area though, should def. check it out.

Some of the best Peruvian food I have had. Ever. My previous favorite used to be "El Rocoto" in Cerritos. Not anymore. I ordered the 1/2 chicken. I was advised by my friend that the green sauce was to die for, and yes, it is to die for. The chicken comes out very most and tender throughout. I tried my friend's steak and paste platter, and while it was heavy, I could see myself eating the whole thing depending on how hungry I am. The only problems I see are: (1) this place is far... just so far., and (2) table space inside is limited at best. Totally worth the wait though!

    (5)
  • Jimmy H.

Simple menu simple food but lots of flavor. Love the sauces they serve. The chicken was tender and juicy (breast too) and the green sauce just knocks it out of the park. Small place and not much parking or seats. You will need to wait during rush hr but worth it.

  • Jay Y.

this is not a peruvian restaurant. it's like a juan pollo restaurant. the sauces were watered down and the food didn't taste authentic. oh and no bread... all the other peruvian places give you bread to dip with your sauce. if you're looking for peruvian food, go to mario's. if you want a step up from el pollo loco, this may be the place you're looking for.

First time trying out a Peruvian restaurant in the 626 area. It was a delightful surprise. Ordered the Bisteck and girlfriend Lomo Saltado. My first impression "this steak looks kind of small, maybe I should have went elsehwere", but it was more than enough to fill me up. The steak was flavorful and I enjoyed pouring the herb oil sauce all over the steak and the cilantro sauce all over my rice and fries. The rice was nicely salted as well. Plantains were nice and crispy. My girlfriend enjoyed her Lomo Saltado. The beef was good. Fries were standard as other Peruvian spots.

The food is great. I came here on the way home to get some dinner to go. It's summertime and 3,000 degrees outside. I could not detect any air conditioning. The floors are dirty, the tables not clean. BUT THE FOOD IS GOOD GOOD GOOD. I'll tolerate dirt & heat for good food. The chicken is the star here, HELLO it's MR POLLO. But interestingly the people that own Mr Pollo also own Misky Misky, who's focus is fish. BTW Misky Misky is the BOMBBBBBB.

lomo saltado, you are quite possibly one of the best dishes ever created. lomo saltado, i've tried you at so many restaurants that i've lost count. mr pollo, your lomo saltado is delicious! there's just enough juicy goodness at the bottom of your lomo saltado to be able to dip the lean pieces of beef in and coat your potatoes in delicious goodness. the tallarin verde is rich and flavorful, with a spicy, garlicky kick. the place gets packed, follow the rules and you'll be allowed back.

Delicious! Love the prices, you get a lot for your buck! The chicken and steak are awesome. Best to call ahead for your to go orders. Im a Peruvian and my goodness I love the food here. Great taste. Great quality food. Great price. I recommend this to any one. Latin , Asian, Caucasian etc. If you have never tried it. I would recommend the lomo saltado for your first time. Also try the green sauce.

Ok this place is just ok , is a small place so it gets crow it but regarding the food is blah ummm I mean if you hungry is ok the only good thing is the CHIMICHURRY that is the green sauce is just AMAZING BUT the chicha morada is awful well I rather go a couple miles away and go to micas in Rancho Cucamonga ;)

I have been to Mr Pollo twice. The people here are nice. Service is somewhat slow. Here's my take on the food... On my first visit, i tried the LOMO SALTADO. It was good, although i must say that i've had better. The meat was seasoned well, but it was somewhat rubbery and hard to chew. Having said that, i finished my plate... And did not lose any tooth. Will i order it again? Sure! Luckily, i have a good dental plan... So bring it on Second visit, i ordered their CHICKEN. It was really good!!! Perfectly made... Moist and full of flavor! This i highly recommend! With hot sauce and the green sauce! Yumm!

Back again. Tried the lomo saltado and loooooved the fries. It was a little salty so lots of rice is needed. The chicken was a kind of dry and lacked flavor. El pollo chicken is smaller but actually better tasting. Wished the wait wasn't so long here. And that they gave bread like sit down Peruvian places. Call beforehand!!

Sad to say... I've been eating at this place since they opened. I've notice that the price is going up and quality is going down. I ordered food to go and portions was smaller then dining in. When asked to speak to a manger (owners son) he said there is nothing he can do about it. Food really isn't as good as it used to be.

Lomo saltado and Saltado de Pollo are delicious. Always busy here so I call I my order for pick up. Don't forget the Inca Cola piña flavored soda it's good. And those little cookies next to the register are great.

Today, I tried something different and ordered at Combo #4 - grilled chicken, 2 sides, and a medium drink. What a great deal! The grilled chicken was perfection and even better with their pesto-type sauce, offered near the cash register. For my 2 sides, I ordered french fries and fried plantains. I opted for the purple corn for my drink. I would have never guessed that it was corn but it sure is tasty! The food did take awhile to come out but overall, love the food! Even had leftovers for later! Going any time of the day, this place seems packed. I am glad that they make it a point to seat people in order, meaning if you first paid and am waiting for food, they make sure you get the next available table and so forth.

This place is so darn good. I keep ordering the same thing because I love it, I need to venture a bit with the menu. The green sauce that they make is what makes it 5 stars. It's garlic and oil and spinach maybe. This place is always packed and very small so I suggest ordering ahead of time. Expect to wait 10 plus minutes if you order there, it's fresh.

I started a new job in the area and have been trying out the nearby places for lunch. I discovered this place from Yelp and decided to check it out with a friend. We both ordered the loma saltado and were impressed with the taste and flavors of the food. Best Peruvian food around in 626. I really don't know why there are negative reviews for this place. They are so nice and courteous. My order comes out fast and the food is always above par!! The homemade aji sauce was great. I can seriously eat everything with aji sauce. I did wished the aji sauce could be just a bit spicier though. I ordered the Lomo Saltado with steak and their steak was unfortunately tough and chewy, but I loved the fries that and how they kinda soaked up the steak juices. The portions are huge which made me feel less guilty about dropping $10ish dollars for lunch as it became dinner too. My friend got the Tallarin Saltado de Mariscos. It is sauteed spaghetti with calamari, mussels, prawns, bay shrimp and scallops with onions, tomatoes and herbs. Al dente pasta bursting with flavor and plenty of seafood! The portion was also huge! So much so, I took the rest home and enjoyed it for two more meals!

I always get the lomo saltado ($9.24 + .81 tax for $10.05 in all). The ají verde is tasty and spicy. Plenty of soft onions and large pieces of tomatoes mixed with the tender beef with the french fries and plenty of sauce. They'll give you white rice to mix with it but it's not enough for all the meat. It's always packed whenever I'm there, not a lot of seating. Not a lot of parking since parking has to be shared with other businesses next to them. Wait time for food can take a while. Get plenty of sauce when it's to-go~.

Best Peruvian food I've ever had. This place is always busy and spot is small so be prepared to wait, good news is they are very quick and you don't wait long. I am obsessed with this cookies that are home made and sold there too. Try one!!! I love their rice, and house salad and you can't go wrong with the Lomo saltado if your in the mood to break the diet!

I'm starting to change the way I rate businesses, I was only basing them off of the food before, but now - I'm including everything! PROS: THE FOOD Chicken was GREAT, I hate to eat anything off of the bone, but I didn't mind with this one. It had a wonderful flavor, and I didn't need a sauce/salsa for it like El Pollo Loco. I had the white portion of the half chicken we ordered, and there was nothing left. We had the chicken fried rice, which was SO GOOD, EXCEPT WAY TOO MANY GREEN ONIONS. I'd get it again, with NO Onions, and it'll be perfect! The sauces were good too, the green one was a bit too hot, but the flavor was nice. CONS: PACKED! (which in reality is a good thing), but it was a tad messy - I'm no neat freak, but I dint want to sit on an oily chair. Although the previous customers should've cleaned it up... I asked for EXTRA crispy french fries, and they were SO not. nothing worse than soggy fries. I'm going to have to work on that with them. LOL You'll smell like smoke/bon fire, although it DOES smell good - I don't want to sleep with it.... all in all - I will absolutely go back!! trying something different every time!

The only reason I am giving it a one star is because, I tried calling in my order and the phone call was not going through. When I got to the restaurant I asked the girl in the front if there was something wrong with the phone lines and she replied "we leave the phone of the hook when we are busy" .....really that's not smart at all!!!!!!

I visited this place with my fiancé since I was in the mood for some Peruvian food and this place happened to be close with high reviews. The food was really good. I ordered lomo saltado & my fiancé ordered grilled chicken. I even really liked their white rice, it had a lot of flavor. My fiancé had never had Peruvian food so he was a little hesitant but, after trying what he ate he became a fan. Now, this isn't a big sit down restaurant. It's more like a Panda Express. There is seating available but, most people seem to order to go. The variety also is limited compared to other Peruvian places: they had no seafood from what I saw. However, I knew this coming in from the helpful reviews and I'm quite satisfied. I will be coming back if I'm in the area. The customer service was great too. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

I always order to go. The food there is exceptional. Their rotisserie chicken is delicious. My favorite is the Lomo Saltado. I love their Aji and chimichurri sauces are delicious as well. Located in a small strip mall. I am so glad I found this restaurant through Yelp. One of my go-to places for yummy food.

I wanted to eat Peruvian food, but the place I usually go to was an hour away. Based on it's reviews on Yelp, I decided to give Mr. Pollo a try. Although the food wasn't as good as my usual spot, it was still pretty good, and I will most likely come back in the future. Cons - it's a small restaurant, and the tables are pretty close to each other.

Excellent Peruvian food. Small menu but has everything you need to get stuffed. Anyone who doesn't like Mr. Pollo should probably head down the road to McDonalds cause that is probably more your style.

Some of the best Peruvian food I have ever had. The lomo saltado and bistek a lo pobre are to die for. The green sauce is spicy and full of flavor. The restaurant is very casual and there is limited seating, but the food makes up for it.

Years later and Mr. Pollo continues to blow me away. I must have mouthed the word "bomb" 10 times under my breath while savoring every last bite of their Pollo Saltado. I'm telling you, their food, sauces, and desserts are epic. To the humble and kindly owners: Please open a restaurant in Los Angeles--I foresee your business being a huge success as my hungry belly is sure to support it.

This was a Peruvian themed night for myself & 2 of my girlfriends. Hole in the wall, fast food, Peruvian food. I'm familiar with the food but wasn't too happy about the place. I'm also not too into have french fries mixed in with every meal. It was ok but not sure if I'll go back to this place. I know better Peruvian restaurants.

Not being from Peru, I can't speak on the authenticity of the food. Overall, it was decent. Nothing that makes me say "I need to eat that again", but good food. Like one reviewer said previously, it's working-man's food. Like most authentic dishes from Latin America, it's poor people food. French fries mixed with steak and veggies? What a great way to stretch what meat you do have, a bit further! I am always looking for great places to eat. On one of my many Yelp searches I stumbled across this place and finally got a chance to stop by and try it. As most reviewers say, it's a hole in the wall in a congested shopping center. Parking can be tricky... but not impossible. There was only one person in line when I walked in, so my order for the Lomo Saltado was placed quickly. It seems that many people call in their orders (maybe they know about the long wait times) because people who showed up after I did seemed to get their food faster. Waited about 20 minutes for my food (and it was to go). Having read the suggestions, I took plenty of the green sauce and some of the red and chimichurri like sauce. Didn't care much for the red sauce, but the other two were good. Food was good and hearty. Steak was tender. Like I said earlier, it was good. I can't complain. If somebody wanted to go there, would I come with them? Sure. But would I stop in again on my own for lunch? Probably not. Not because the food isn't good. It's just not mind blowing (as some reviews made it seem). There is much better food that I can get for $11+.

I saw this place at yelp and decide to check it out and man... its really good.... This little place is packed everytime I go there and food its awesome. It can get bit expansive so I dont eat here very often but this is the place if your looking for some rotisserie chicken and them self service sauce is good too.

Mr. Chicken. I have only eaten at about 5 different Peruvian joints, so I can't make sweeping comparisons, but the taste and quality of the edibles from Monsier Poulet are not lacking. The chicken is super-flavorful and juicy; I'll dunk anything in the aji and I also am a fan of the red chile sauce--it has a nice, vinegar-y tang. The lomo saltado is pretty darn good; it might have had a better one at a fancier sit-down type Peruvian place, but I also paid more and Mr. Pollo's isn't significantly different. It is significantly yummy. Just don't get a craving to go on Mondays. Because then you'll be sad.

Came here for the first time to get my Peruvian fix. When I first walked in, I could immediately smell the all flavors and aroma. It really was heavenly. I ordered the whole chicken with two sides and the lomo saltado. The lomo saltado was fantastic! The beef was tender and the onions and fries were soft and flavorful. However, I was disappointed with the chicken. While it did have a great flavor, the portion was tiny. It was so small that it all fit in a little styrofoam box with room to move around. The rice was a bit undercooked as well. The green salsa was just pure heat; no flavor. Overall, it wasn't as good as I was expecting but still decent.

As delicious as it gets...I dream about this place and have major cravings for the lomo saltado. We also had the half chicken which was wonderful as well. Another reason to love this place is they have purple corn chicha morada & passionfruit drinks, both are fantastic. The only reason this place didn't get 6 stars (if that was possible), was the wait for everything was awful. Actually they were "out of chicken" when we arrived so we almost left. Luckily I decided to get back in the slow line to get the chicha morada drink and then was told there is now chicken....after another long wait. This place set the bar for my expectations for the flavor of Peruvian food, but it has a way to go with efficiency.

Fantastic tasting dishes and reasonable prices for the amount of food you get. My only complaint is that it is too crowded during lunch hours (and for a very good reason! because the food is delicious!). Edit: I had this place again January 2015, and I must tell you it isnt as good as it was before. Too bad.

Met up with a friend at Mr Pollo. I've tried the Saltado dishes at other joints, the only thing I've ever tried peruvian. So I decided to play it safe and order the Lomo Saltado. Was very good. Could use some more steak. My friend let me try some of what she ordered. The Tallarin verde (green spaghetti) with chicken breast on top was so good, I'm going back for that next time. Plantains were just like any other spot. Very good though. Mashed potatos taste like kfc's. blah. Was very crowded and small in there. People in line are just staring at you eat. I'd rather take my food to go next time. Overall, I loved the food.

This small and humble restaurant on North Azusa Avenue offers delicious, affordable Peruvian food. I've tried the lomo saltado, pollo saltado, the pesto pasta, and grilled chicken salad. All were great! There isn't a lot of sitting space, so if you want your food quickly, call first and just pick up your food to go. Food can be a bit too salty. Recommended.

This place is always consistent. The food is well prepared, flavorful and delicious. The price point is unbelievable. I always get item #4, chicken breast which comes with two sides (rice, beans, fries, salad) and a drink for about $6. The rice are seasoned with little hint of garlic, which tastes great. Only negative thing I can say is it gets crowded during lunch, which speaks for itself. Overall a great food and even better value for your money.

First time here and I was impressed by the crowd of people on a Wed evening. We got the Combo 4, Grilled chicken breast, 2 sides, salad and fried plantains+drink ($6.55), and the Combo 3, Grilled Bisteck, fries, fried plantains+drink ($7.75). There is an assortment of sauces, the usual Peruvian green sauce which was hotter than most, a hot red sauce. There was an unusual sauce I haven't seen before I think it was oil, garlic and parsley, and then in squirt bottles, mayo and mustard. The chicken breast was large, lean butterflied and grilled. Very good. The Bisteck was lean and tender. The sides were generous, good salad dressing, good fries, and the plantains were about the best I can remember. The plantains were sweet, crisp on the outside, and were not dripping in grease like some I have had. Next time I am looking forward to trying the Lomo, or Pollo Bisteck. This is one of the best Peruvian places I have ever been to and very good prices, and large portions.

  • S Y.

Decent and very good. I wish the Lomo had more vinegar. I also wished for more variety. However, I understand they limit the menu for production. But, this place is always busy, and the food is good. I would go back again and again.

I'm not sure if it's Peruvian food that is freaking amazing or if it's this place.. maybe it's both. Just thinking about their lomo saltado makes my mouth water. Oh my gawd, their pollo a la brasa is perfectly flavorful. EVEN THEIR RICE IS DELICIOUS TOO. There's not much to say but that this.. this precious place is just absolutely great and affordable. Except maybe their little 8 dollar dessert tray is kinda pricey. But it makes sense since we're paying for the hard work of the cookie. The only negative thing about this place is that it's ghetto. But I don't think anyone even cares (besides the germiphobes) since we're all mesmerized by the foood. :D

restaurants like mr. pollo are the very reason why i use yelp! i'm always on the hunt for an inexpensive, authentic, friendly, family-owned hole-in-the-wall that will give me the opportunity to enjoy something tasty and new. i grew up in west covina and we used to always go to the chicken teriyaki spot a few doors down. back then, mr. pollo didn't exist. we ended up back in west covina this afternoon and yelped to find a good spot to grab lunch... and found mr. pollo! we entered and it's a fast-food feel - order at the front by the illuminated menus posted on the wall. service was fast and friendly and we quickly chose to split the lomo saltado (lean beef, fries, tomatoes served with a side of rice). when it came to drink options, i was excited to spot a can of soda i had never seen before - inca cola!! forrest y grabbed a seat while i got samples of the three sauces (dark green, light green, and red). every dish is made to order so it took a while and we started to get hungry as we watched the rotisserie chickens getting cooked and smelled the amazing food being prepared. the LOMO SALTADO - GET IT! it's a huge serving (the two of us split the order and were stuffed!) and the sauce is AMAZING. the dish is slightly sweet from the tomato and onions, savory from the lean,well-marinated (and slightly spicy) beef, and balanced with the fries. their rice is also nice - not as sticky as japanese but not as dry as spanish rice. as for the sauces, i agree with everyone - the dark green sauce is MIND-BLOWING. it goes with everything; forrest y and i agreed that we could probably eat this just the rice! the light green sauce is surprisingly spicy (but i was expecting an indian-style mild mind sauce) while the red sauce unsurprisingly had kick. lastly, the inca cola is delicious - it's golden in color and not like coke at all. instead, it's more bubble-gummy and happily bring-you-back-to-childhood sweet. the verdict: definitely coming back... 5 stars!!

This is an unassuming place - you wouldn't know that this strip mall off the freeway hides some really good Peruvian barbecue. "French fries in my meat?" Yes, that's the Lomo Saltado, a popular Peruvian dish, and from what I'm told by a Peruvian friend, that's how it's done. The meat is very flavorful; again, unassuming by appearance, but delightfully tasty. The atmosphere is lacking charm - it's a plain, brightly lit room with tables. But at Mr. Pollo, you're there for the food, not the decor!

Them Peruvians sure know how to flame up their chicken. I like to think that I am a chicken aficionado. Mr. Pollo is surely one of the best. Tucked away in the heart of Covina, in a circa 1987 strip mall, this place has become one of my "flavorite" restaurants in The SGV. And yes I said "flavorite". That's "flavor" and "favorite" intertwined in a hot sensual culinary sexsapade. The chicken screams "EAT ME"!!! It is rotiserried over a wood fired grill. The flavor is intense. Now of course the chicken is the star of the show, but there are many other things on the menu. All just as good and unique in flavor. This is NOT Mexican food, so don't ask for salsa or tortillas (tore-till-ass). Not much to say, so gonna make it quick...it's cheap, it's good and it didn't make me sick :-) Eat here now!!! ***Question: Can someone find out what they use the mayonaise for? They have a huge jar of mayo and everyone goes up and gets some, but i have yet to figure out what it is used for.

Combo with 1/4 chicken & 2 sides (fries & fried plantains). My 3 year old daughter liked the chicken, but didn't like the fries. I thought the chicken was good and fries where whatever. Plantains were DELISH!!!! Ordered lomo saltado, which was about $10 or more. Didn't think it was worth it--it had more fries than meat. I thought the flavor was o.k., but I really enjoyed it the next day when I ate the left overs. Tried some light colored fruit juice---worker said it was like passion fruit. My daughter didn't like it. It was really sweet. Anyhow, it was about $18 for the combo, lomo saltado, & drink. I asked my husband if he thought it was better than Chipotle, and he couldn't say yes. That's why it didn't get 5 stars.

mmmmmmmmm Mr. Pollo..... Do me a favor: 1) Go here. 2) Close your eyes. 3) Point to the menu. 4) Order what you pointed at. 5) Savor it. 6) Thank me later.

I love Peruvian food so when Mr.Pollo popped up on Yelp search results and it was nearby, I decided to try it. When it comes to Peruvian food, I never know what to get because I want everything. I went with something simple though and something I don't usually get. I got the LOMO SALTADO. I usually get a chicken dish if I have Peruvian food, but I wanted something different. Everything was awesome! The rice, the fries, the yummy savory sause, the onions, and the tomatoes. The one thing that I wasn't so please with was the beef. To be honest, it was a little hard to chew. I'm not going to give up on them quite yet. I still have the rest of their menu to try. Despite my opinion on their Lomo Saltado, their staff was friendly and their service was great. Overall, I gave them 3 stars. 1 for great service, 1 for their friendly staff, and 1 for their tasty lomo saltado. Too bad they ran out of horchata. =/

I ordered the Pollo Saltado and I wasn't too impressed. I had been hearing about this place for weeks now from friends so my boyfriend and I went to check it out ourselves. Although the service was quick and friendly the food did not live up to the expectation. The fries were very soggy, and chicken was just "OK", they do however have some pretty amazing sauces. Unfortunately, I do not think I will be returning anytime soon do to that.

I love this place! I usually order Combo #4 (grilled chicken breast w/ mashed potatoes & rice) minus the drink so it ends up being about 6 bucks. Cheap as heck! The green chile sauce & parsley sauce is HEAVEN ...

After seeing this place reviewed on channel 5.news, I had to check it out. It had garnered the highest praise in this review and that can sometimes be a bad thing as expectations may be set unrealistically high. First of all, assessing this place is a little confusing. It looks like a fast food place and is located in a strip mall. My tendency was to judge it as a fast food place ( not good ) but the food is good and the portions are generous and the prices are definitely reasonable. I think they do however utilize the formula that fast food chains use, and that is to use the same ingredients in different configurations to create a bigger menu. Oh well, nothing wrong in being clever. Even at that the menu is somewhat limited. I had the Lomo Saltado and it was excellent. My wife was less impressed with her 1/4 chicken but thinks it was just not her best choice. Other members in our group were reasonably pleased. I would like to go back to try other things on the menu. Not much to risk. Food is good and plentiful at a reasonable price.

This place is pretttty delicious Lomo saltado. YES. Rotisserie chicken. YES. The amount of plantains that came with my chicken seemed kinda skimpy though. I tried this Peruvian soda. It was pretty good. I felt more worldly afterwards.

My cousin told me about Mr. Pollo and I have definitely become a fan! The chicken is deliciously seasoned and I always order the rice along with it. I find that sometimes the chicken can be a little dry but that's nothing that a little olive oil and cilantro sauce can't solve. I seriously love that oil! It makes food taste 10X more flavorful! I also love the light green jalapeno guacamole sauce! My bf tried the carne asada meat here but It was so dry and the texture was like rubber. My suggestion is to just order the chicken since that is what they specialize in.

Wanna have a real rotisserie peruvian chicken? Go to Pollos Vermont in Gardena. Google it, it has full-stars! R u Peruvian living in Covina or nearby? Yeah unfortunatelly there's no other peruvian restaurant around here. I went there 15+ times. No choice! Also, sometimes I drive 40 miles to go to Mission Viejo to eat real/ good peruvian food at Delicias Peruanas or Gardena at El Virrey or Van Nuys at Machu Picchu but hell NO way I would drive 40 miles to eat at this Mr. Pollo u see my point now? Not a 4 star restaurant. Over-rated. If you are not Peruvian, go ahead, you will enjoy Mr. Pollo. Not part of rating this restaurant but I saw the mexican cooker eating peruvian chicken with tortillas during his lunch time. Dude dont offend our cuisine! this is not Pollo Loco! Ubicate vato!

Their combination plates are great! Your choice of chicken or beef, 2 sides, and a drink for around 6bucks? Heck yea i'm there. Their lomo saltado is also really good, but not quite as flavorful as 'Mario's', which is my other Peruvian obsession. Overall, the flavor, quality, and price make this place worthy of checking out...on numerous occassions. =^)

  • G Y.

Me and my buddy tried this yesterday, were both fans now... we tried the Lomo Saltado plate and I had the Chicha Morada Drink. Everything was good and it was a large serving that had me full for the rest of the day... not an easy task. The girl at the counter let me sample the passion fruit and the Chicha Morada drinks, so you can ask for a sample. The Jalapeño sauce was good, I also tried the Japanese hot sauce which was spicier but good as well. Next time I want to try the chicken, this is definitely worth checking out, especially if your in the mode for something different. After our meal the aroma of Roasted Chicken lingered on my cloths, it was noticeable as soon as I walked in the room. I was left in a happy place as I took a nap to sleep off my meal dreaming of my next visit when I tackle the chicken plate...

The food is excellent. That is an understatement. The chicken is to die for. When you walk into the restaurant, the smell of roasting chickens hits you. Guy Fieri should hit this place up on Diners, Drive-in's and Dives. Like many dives, Mr. Pollo is in a small strip mall with limited parking. But this is an exceptional dive with a lunch crowd that is out the door. I have tried almost everything on the menu, and keep coming back for more. I've talked to the patrons, and some drive all the way from Riverside to West Covina to eat here (that's almost an hour). The prices are good, and the staff is cheerful and pleasant. The dipping sauces have a good kick (it kind of builds up and gets hotter as you eat). I love chicken, and this one tops all the others. Their beef dishes like Lomo Saltado rocks, and you can't go wrong picking any of the Peruvian Dishes on their menu. Do yourself a favor, and drop on by, you won't be disappointed.

  • Andy P.

Ordered the classic lomo saltado, I've definitely had better. It seems like they use a lower quality meat like a flank compared to other places where they use thicker cuts like sirloin/ribeye. The amount of meat that was put into the dish was probably the equivalent to a 4 oz steak, which is pathetic. My friend ordered a combo with the chicken+salad+rice. The piece of chicken was so measly and doesn't justify the $10 price tag. You can get a whole chicken with that kind of money. But I had one HUGE issue with this place. The ventilation is TERRIBLE. I had trouble breathing inside of the place because of all the smoke. As a person with asthma I was definitely feeling some chest pain, which resulted in a really uncomfortable experience. With a average 4.5 star rating, I thought this place would be amazing. The food's quality didn't match up with the prices, and I almost suffered an asthma attack. I would not recommend this place.

After reading the reivews I was expecting to be blown away by the Chicken here. Well, i was blown away, but not in a good way. Let me first say everyone is right, the galic, parsley and olive oil sauce is fantastic and works well with the chicken. Also, the Alfajores (cookies) are really good, even if they are a little pricey. The chicken however was disappointing in many ways: - Overcooked and dry. I was shocked after reading all of the other reviews. - Was this a chicken, or was it a cornish game hen? When I picked up the bag holding the chicken, cookies and sauces I thought maybe they had given me the wrong order so when I got out to my car I did somethng I rarely do, open the bag. Yes, there was a whole chicken but man was it a small chicken. I would have gone back in and asked to have a different one but I was running late and figured I would just let everyone know that if you do end up going here, check to see if you get a chicken or a baby chicken. The most satisfying part of the meal was the alfajores. They are really good, light and crispy cookie with a hint of cinammon and great filling. I will go back for these, and the young girl behind the counter was very nice as well. One odd thing was she hands you the little cups and lids for the sauces, they are not just sitting out near the sauces. they must get a run on sauces or something. Anyway, 1 star for the chicken just because I cannot give 0, and 1 star for the cookies and sauces. The prices were too high for what you get. If you want a great chicken check out Chicken King Express in Monrovia. Now, THAT's a great juicy chicken!

Chicken was juicy . Fries are handcut and fresh. Haven't had chicken this good since last time I visited Peru.

Mr. Pollo is a hole in the wall Peruvian eatery that my brother discovered and told me about. Nothing fancy about the place, which actually reminds me more of a cafeteria than a restaurant....but the food here is worth the stop. I usually order the lomo saltado, which is a plate full of sliced marinated steak, grilled onions and tomatoes, garlic cilantro rice, and fries. Drenched with their special green cilantro sauce/dressing and some hot sauce and this meal will satisfy your hunger! The meals are a little bit pricey for an eatery setting, but it's a while lot of food and you can probably share it or devour it yourself depending on how hungry you are. Be prepared tho, food coma will surely kick in after eating here..

Is this really Peruvian food? Fries mixed with beef? Very interesting! It doesn't matter. It is not like carne asada fries. I'd say it is even better because of the sauce... Mm.... The lomo saltado is as good as everyone says it is! It is big enough be shared with someone else, but I prefer to eat it all by myself. It comes with a little bit of a salad but I'm not here to eat salad. The price for this dish was at about $9-10 and comes with a drink. I got the Inca Kola with it, which tastes like cream soda. Pretty busy on a Friday night at around 6:30PM. I'd give it 5 stars but it took thirty minutes to get our food. There were a few people who called in for takeout, though, so that may be why it took awhile to get our food. The wait was worth it, though! Okay, I'll give it 5 stars.

Bomb-dot-com!! Like I said before, I don't know too much about Peruvian food, but holy toledo I love the food here! Everything I've tasted is so full of flavor! It's pretty much a hole in the wall, but hey....that's where the good food's at sometimes! Plates run about $10, portions are decently sized, and your plate comes out oh so fresh and hot when you eat there! I seriously always crave this place. LOL!! (Fatty!) Check it out, you wont be disappointed. Oh, and hello green sauce!

So glad to have found this place through yelp. I have definitely passed by this place so many times never knowing what a hidden gem this cozy little place was! The Lomo Saltado completely lived up to my expectations and I devoured the whole thing in a matter of minutes. And limitless green sauce! Im in heaven. I will be paying this place many more visits. Hopefully my stomach will let me order the chicken because I know it will be craving MORE LOMO SALTADO please!

You don't have to be black to like this chicken spot. Mr. Pollo has some tasty chicken for all to enjoy. It's basically, Peruvian style chicken cooked on a rotisserie with a few wood chips to give it that wood flavor. The whole chicken meal comes with two sides and is priced at $13.99. The meal should feed 3-4 peeps or two fat kids or 2 people with big appetites. For the sides, I usually get the white rice (that seems to be flavored with something) and the french fries (because fries are awesome and they give you a lot). They serve other popular Peruvian dishes as well but I would stick with the chicken. The best part about Mr. Pollo is the house sauce they make for the chicken. It's basically a blend of olive oil, parsley and garlic. Pour some of this stuff over the rice and the chicken and instant orgasm in your mouth. The oil also keeps every bite of chicken moist and tender. The only negative part about Mr. Pollo is the ambiance. The tables are close together and the store does get congested giving you that crammed up feeling.. Also, I don't think they have a public restroom in the store.. Cliff notes: Mr.Pollo is greater than Pollo de Oro Black, whites, asians, hispanics will all love their chicken.

This place is awesome. The food is great the people are friendly and you don't have to wait long for your food even if its busy. Everything you try on the menu will not disappoint you. It's a little pricey but the portions are huge so you can share or have leftovers for the next day. If you are in the mood for something just different I recommend this place.

Great rotisserie chicken with rice and plantains. Tastes even better with their dark green chimichurri sauce and lighter creamy green aji hot sauce. This place gets really crowded during lunch.

I don't know much about Peruvian food, but this is the best place to get roasted chicken and green pesto spaghetti that taste sooooooo good. The price is so cheap, the place is so small, yet so many people love and crowds the place. Must try their green colored hot sauce. It's the best!

  • Edmund C.

Such good food. The rotisserie chicken is always yummy. Flavorful and moist. You cannot go wrong with it. I've had a few Peruvian places and this is by far the best one I've had. If you're looking for something hearty and filling, then the lomo saltado is the way to go... the rice is pretty good too. It's got some flavor to it. Add a bit of that aji verde sauce (green sauce in the squirt bottles) for a little heat and enjoy!

  • Anne T.

Place is always packed at peak hours. Best chicken ever! I love coming here with hubby and my in-laws for their flavor packed chicken and aji (delicious green sauce). I always get it with fries and a salad (to make me feel less like a fatty). I dip everything in that aji sauce ... yummy in da tummy :D

This place is great! I've been going here for a few years as a local spot for good grub. Everything here is tasty and it's a good change of pace from the usual fast food or diners that I frequent. If you've never had Peruvian, this is great place to start.

Yum! I went here for dinner with a couple other people and we definitely ordered with our eyes. We shared a lomo saltado and whole chicken meal with fried plantains, fries and garden salad. It came out to about $30 including 2 drinks. Everything was really tasty, especially paired up with one of their green sauces. My stomach is growling thinking about it. Minus one star because the chicken was good but wasn't the best I've had and the fries weren't crispy. I've already eaten here twice this week and I can't wait to try everything else on the menu. :)

Different combos from $6 to $10 Went with the chicken ($7) combo. Beans are good, rice is nice and soft, chicken is very flavorful. try the green sauce for some kick. Plantains were too greasy. Lomo Saltado also good The inca kola ($1) is gross. tastes like coke with bubblegum flavor. Overall, worth a visit.

This place is very good. First time i got a taste of it was when a co-worker was just about finishing up his plate. The aroma was so succumbing i had to snatch his last piece of chicken and woaaaaaa! I was amazed. The next day I went there and ordered a full peruvian meal. It was awesome. Get lots of the green sauce cuz its super delicious.

Tried this place out after watching it on the channel 5 news. Was not sure what to expect. This place is too small for the crowd it attracts. The food was freshly made and the taste was awesome. I took my food to go because there was no place to sit. Dont forget to try the green chilu sauce. It is so good, however they can bring down the spicy part of it down a notch or two. I had the chicken fried rice and man this was better than I expected. I will be back!

Om nom nom nom nom. This is the most delicious Peruvian restaurant I've ever gone to. Okay, I admit I've only gone to 2 Peruvian restaurants in my life, but this is soooo good. I've gone for takeout a few times now, and my boyfriend has added the restaurant to his lunchtime rotation (visiting every week or two). So it's not the fanciest place ever, and the location along a busy street in a crowded strip mall may make you think twice, but DON'T. You walk up to the counter to order and can either claim a table or take it home to enjoy it. I personally prefer to take it home and enjoy it with some quality South American vino. Anyways, the lomo saltado is fantastic, as is the rotisserie chicken. The lomo is tender and juicy and it comes on top of roasted tomatoes, onions, and soggy french fries. The sauce seems like a combination of tomato and some sort of asian sauce, kind of like soy sauce -- I really can't describe it but trust me, it's delicious. The roasted chicken has a lot more subtle flavoring to it and, if you're looking for something healthier, this is a great option.

This is the kind of place that I never would have tried without yelp. Its a hidden crack-in-the wall Peruvian spot that has pretty good food. I wish I knew about this place a long time ago and must now work it into my rotation of places to eat. They have fresh wood-fire cooked chicken and a tasty lomo saltado. You gotta have the plantains as a side as well. Plus they offer free refills for your drink. I also have to mention their small sauce bar. The had 3 different sauces you can have with your meal. My favorite was the green and spicy red sauce. The 1/2 chicken combo, 2 sides, and drink is less than $10 and good for sharing. The dining area is small and has a small tv for your entertainment. Spanish channel only though. I will never again go to Pollo Loco as long as this place is open.

My boyfriend and I shared an order of lomo saltado. I've never had anything like it. At first I was skeptical because it's basically french fries with beef, tomato, and onion with a pile of rice on the side. I thought it seemed carb-heavy at first, but it turned out to be perfect. It contained a generous amount of beef and veggies. As delicious as the lomo saltado was, we were eying the chicken the whole time and decided that we're definitely coming back soon so we can try it.

Yes, looks can definitely be deceiving. I drive past this area every day, but didn't drop in until recently. So glad I did.. great find thus far! And it's 3 streets from where I live! I've had Peruvian food before and wasn't impressed (see past reviews), but I decided to give it a 2nd chance. So glad I did! So on to the food.. I ordered Lomo Saltado, and my friend ordered a chicken combo with two sides (rice + salad). Lomo Saltado consists of strips of meat, potatoes, and tomatoes. This place did it right! It was pretty tasty. My friend's chicken was good, too. Not dry at all, and well-seasoned. Other pros: friendly service, both green sauces are tasty (the spicy, guac looking one and the one with cilantro and olive oil), drinks are yum (esp. the red one and Inka Kola), oh! Don't forget dessert! Grab an alfajor-- a cookie/biscuit thing with filling that tastes like caramel and condensed milk! Portions are generous, prices are decent. Me gusta Mr. Pollo! :)

It is between 3 1/2 & 4 stars. We had the Lomo Saltado and 1/2 a chicken with rice and salad. Salad was delicious and loved the vinaigrette dressing. Rice was good with the cilantro/olive oil sauce. Chicken was a little dry but tasty. Lomo Saltado was delicious at first but as you keep eating gets a little salty as the French fries absorb the sauce. And a little too much pepper in my opinion. We did see another couple order the steak and eggs and that looked really good. Good portion sizes. We will be back to try more food but not in the near future.

This part of the SGV is a foodie desert. People don't know what real food is. I've been stuck rating chains since I moved out here. And this place, though not a chain, is honestly not that good. They have a limited selection of food and all their food is rather bland, especially the chicken. Their food doesn't have that infused taste. Their tomatoes taste like tomoato, pototatoes potatoes, onions like onions, etc. It's really just a mixture of ingredients but none of the plates seems to have the good peruvian fusion taste. People always rave about this place but as I said, its because the stuff to compare against is not that great in return. If you want real peruvian food, skip this place and find another shop.

They have THEE best 'lomo saltado!' It has the right amount of sauce over the right amount of fries, beef, tomatoes, and onions. SO GOOD! It's a small, underground, ghetto type of restaurant, but I think that's why it's so damn good! MUST TRY!

Ok, once I get on a roll, I tend to obsess about these things... As of late, I've been obsessing about Peruvian Food. Went to Mario's a bunch, went to Mama Inkas, went to a Mr. Pollo in Anaheim (NOT the same and NOT as good), went to Inka, too. A meal for two at these restaurants usually cost between $25 and $35 total (no booze or wine). Now Mr. Pollo here in beautiful West Covina costs substantially less (between $15 to $20 for two)...and you know what? It's BETTER than ANY of those other restaurants!!! No kiddin! BETTER! Aji is just hot enough and is made what seems like the traditional way without goofy mayo or mustard (some of the mentioned restaurants us those ingredients - yuck... Tallarin Saltado de Pollo is my favorite. Saltado de Pollo is traditional and good. Beef is usually pounded to be tender in the Bisteck. Everything is just outrageously good...not sure how that happens in a low-rent hole in the wall, but whatever they're doing, keep it up and I'll be back almost every week. Waitresses are cuties who make me smile when I eat there. If I could make a suggestion, it would be that Mr Pollo introduce some type of seafood...maybe shrimp? squid? We've been coming for years. and lord willing, we'll be back again, and again and again....

Yes the chicken is good, but that's about where it ends. And its definitely not worth returning, when there's so many better options Kind of pricey for the portion, and a really long wait. I didn't try the lomo saltado, but I don't think i would after I seen it served with cheap spaghetti. I don't mind paying $10 for lunch but you better give me premium cuts of meat. This place serves quantity not quality. No tortillas or bread???? For the area it's probably four star, but overall it's not even close.

I'm not too incline in Peruvian food, but this place is DELICIOUS! I have a friend that is Peruvian, and she said this place is good and to try it out...I get the Lomo Saltado and my fiance gets the Tallarin Saltado and those potatoes with that cheese sauce, and we both DEF LOVE it!

First off the food is really good! With that said the service is alright. The place is too small and gets really crowded at times. When u do get a table its oily. The place feels stuffy because theres no ac. They take way too long to give u your food. I love the food so what i do is order by phone and by the time i get there its ready to go :)

I eat here once a week. Everything is amazing!! The lomo saltado is their best dish!! My only complaint is the place is too small, they should really think about expanding.

Food - 4.5 Decor - 2 Service - 3.5 I remember the first time I came here a couple of years back and to this day, it's still as good as I remember it. Located in the middle of nowhere in West Co, this little gem offers one of the most authentic Peruvian experiences I have had in LA. I almost always come here for their lomo saltado, which is basically just beef, onions, and tomatoes stir-fried and simmered in a super tasty beef-based gravy and put on top of a bed of their french fries. It comes with a side of rice, which has been cooked in what I'm guessing is a beef-based broth....seriously rice on crack! Their lomo is pretty addicting and at a somewhat reasonable price ($10), I don't have to drive all the way down to Mario's to get my fix! Their prices have definitely jumped up by a couple of dollars, which warrants the -1 star rating, but I will still come back for more! I also tried their version of a rotisserie chicken, which you can either buy in 1/4, 1/2, or whole chicken portions for $7, $9, or $15, respectively. You can literally see them putting the chickens on the spit and watch as they turn around and around in a rotisserie oven, which has mesquite wood for added smokey flavor! I opted for the 1/2 chicken with 2 sides (pinto beans and french fries). The chicken was pretty good, had a slight smokey flavor, and was definitely moist compared to other firewood-based places, but not as moist or juicy when put up against a Costco chicken. The beans were pretty standard, but the french fries (the same kind that they use in the lomo) were crispy with a soft center and delicious! Pair with their chile-based green sauce and you will pretty much eat everything in sight as long as that sauce keeps coming LOL. There were a couple other sauces, but they aren't even worth mentioning. Finish with their plantains (which were definitely on par with other high end places) and you got yourself the perfect end to a lunch! They also used to have horchata, but now they don't...hopefully it will come back soon. Recommendations - LOMO SALTADO, green sauce, and plantains Favorites - LOMOOOOOOO...and green sauce

So I felt like trying something new today and my friend suggested Peruvian. At first I was like, is that even good...? but they assured me that it should be. I did like the food, it wasn't bad. The lomo saltado was very flavorful, but a bit on the dry side... the juices of the tomatoes, onions and sauce made up for it. My other friend ordered the chicken, bit on the dry side as well, but the fries made up for it because they tasted like in and out fries. All in all the price is not one $ it's $$. Check it out if you're interested in trying some peruvian food!

Wasn't quite sure what to expect from this place, but they definitely serve more than just chicken, though their chicken is also quite good. So far I've had their Lomo Saltado, their 1/2 chicken and their green spaghetti with steak. All were spot on and very affordable. Great place to try if you're in the area.

This place is overrated. Sorry to be so blunt. After reading all the great reviews I was excited to try the roasted chicken and fries but after my first bite I was truly disappointed. It was 12:30pm on a Wednesday and not as busy as I read it would be, which was a good thing, and our order came up fast. We rushed to my car and in less than a minute, I opened the box and snuck a fry hoping to have an explosion of crispy yummy fried potato goodness released onto my tastebuds but it was nothing but soggy and bland. Strike one. I get home less than 5 mins later and figure the rice and chicken will make up for the fries, but again, let down. Bland, with an extra dash of more bland. Strike two. As I'm halfway thru (not enjoying it much) low and behold, out pops a dark black hair in the mist of the tray. Strike three! Never coming here again!

Good chicken. Order half chicken with two sides for about 8 bucks. Really good flavor on the chicken, well seasoned. Would come back. I came back a few more times and the chicken and sides seem to have gotten better. Try it you won't regret it.

A friend that lives in Pasadena recommended Mr. Pollo to me and i live in Covina! How could I have missed this place after passing it for more than 5 years. For one...the name...Mr. Pollo makes it sound like it will be another Pollo Loco or Juan Pollo it doesn't describe delicious Peruvian food. Secondly, it's location...even though its along busy Azusa Ave. it feels hidden in a strip center in an area that isn't that great. Third...appearance. The sign is so discreet and along with the other shops seems a bit on the ghetto side... BUT...and a big but it is....the food is amazing. The lomo saltado was great. My wife and I loved our food. The sauce that the saltado was made in was awesome and the chimichurri hit the spot. My only complaint is that i usually expect home made potato wedges in my saltado but even then the fries were really good too. The service was nice and friendly. I'm a big-time fan and i plan on coming back again and again...even if i ever move away.

It has been a longgg time since I have been here, but i was reminded today about how wonderful this place really is. It is a nice change of flavor (being that every latin restaurant in this area is Mexican). Everything on the menu is awesome, but my favorite is the Lomo Saltado. I can't compare it to other Peruvian restaurants because this is the only one I have been to, but the next Peruvian place I eat at better be good, because this place has set the standard. btw...don't judge the book by it's cover...the shopping center this restaurant is in is a deadzone.haha p.s all those green sauces that the people before me posted about...are all awesomeee!

This peruvian joint although a hole in the wall blows the rest out of the water. I have had Peruvian from a number of places and not only is this the least expensive, it is the most flavorful as well as ample when it comes to portions. Menu is limited but they stuck to what they do best. They take credit card and the chichamorada is delicious. Closed Mondays and at 9pm nightly so get it while you can.

I have lived in Covina all my life and have passed this place hundreds of times. The little shopping center where it's located can be a pain in the butt to get in to, but hey, today I wasn't driving, so here we go. We ordered two dishes for 3 people and ended up leaving with a small box to take home. I don't know the names of the dishes, but they were both fabulous. One was a steak dish, stir fried with veggies and french fries. The meat was tender and juicy..yummmy! The next dish was chicken in some fried rice. Also very tender and tasty. The place is very small and the entire hour or so we were there people kept pouring in. I ended up getting something to go for the kids. I ordered the half chicken and two sides, rice and beans. My daughters are at this very moment gobbling everything up! I will definitely be back!

BEST CHICKEN EVER!!!! I love Peruvian food. My husband is Peruvian so i get to eat it often. But this place is a gem. Its a whole in the wall place with about 8 tables. Hard to find parking at times since its in a small shopping center. Its usually very busy so if u hate crowds this isn't for you. But if your willing to wait for a table i guarantee satisfaction. Its family run & they take pride in their food. Very friendly. We come here at least once a week. Sometimes twice. For first timers i suggest getting the whole chicken special. Its 1 whole chicken with 2 sides for $13.99. Their chicha is the bomb. The aji is spicy but a very good compliment for the chicken. Overall, you just have to try it yourself.

This review may sound like a weird review but hey, it's MY review and I'll say what I want to say. So here goes. Mr. Pollo himself must have injected crack into his salad dressing! I mean there's really nothing really special about it but for some reason I just cant get enough of it. I wake up craving it the next day. To me the chicken in the combo is the side dish compared to the salad. Give it a shot and you'll see what I mean. Oh, the service from them is second to none. This place is a prime example of how a family owned business should be.

The food is delicious :D their prices are worth it the green chile sauce is to die for... but wish they would give more for to go orders food is prepared on time and waiting time is short the only sad part is that they got rid of their cole slaw.. which was simply delicious.

This place is excellent. The portions are large, and the prices aren't high. There is a wood fired oven in back somewhere, which smells fantastic. I cant remember the name of my meal, but it was a delicious chicken/grilled veggies/noodle thing that I would happily eat again (wait I will eat it again because I had to bring some home with me). Also, Peruvian food is nothing like Mexican food.

They have really good food. I don't eat Peruvian food much so I can't tell you how it compares to other similar restaurants but I know good food when I taste it. I'm knocking it down a star because they're portions aren't what I expected. The sauces were pretty good though!

tight parking, super busy, not the best location (tiny spot in a strip mall). So far those are the only cons that i can think of. otherwise, food is excellent, price point is great, service is fast, place is clean. I like the lomo saltado, haven't tried the other dishes yet. Chimichurri is also yummy. Try the cookies!

My girl told me to found something close to her cousin house so I look around and found this place so we all want here. The place is small and it is your typical hole in your wall kind of place but there were a hugh lines almost out of the door. I decided that we have to see why there such a long line, that is like a alarm ringing saying it is good but my gf and her cousin were starving so I convince them to wait. I order 2 lomo saltado and 1 pollo saltado. Lucky we found a seat because the place was pack. We basically waited for over 45min just for our food and i kept hearing them complain about how hungry they were. Anyway finally it came and we were sooo happy because the food was soo dam tasty. We all were silence for the first 15min. The 3 sauces they have were very tasty and normally the green sauce would be my favorite but this place has a spicy one which was freaky tasty and it isn't overly spicy but just enough. I am soooo glad that I found this place and it is just down the street from my girl cousin house so I know exactly where to eat each time we go visit him. This place is a gem!!

Went for the first time on Mothers Day..... ordered a variety of items from their menu and was VERY pelased with all of them. Good prices and smiles from the staff.... Can get a little busy, but so be it, that's because it's so good.... but they move fast to keep up with all the orders..... Chicken is awesome!

Went to this place with people from the office, and then couldn't stop thinking about it the whole weekend. So, had to rush back to get some more the next week. Food was quite good, especially the chicken. They have couple kinds of sauce, I like the 2 green ones. Service people were very friendly. The place was a little small. The place was filled up very quickly. So, either go early, or avoid the lunch time rush hour.

It's ok if you're in the area. Prices are a bit steep for this hole in the wall. Save your money and drive to Mario's Peruvian restaurant in Hollywood. You will not be disappointed.

I don't know Peruvian food, and I'm not sure Mr. Pollo qualifies as Peruvian food, but you can't deny the taste and flavors. Had it for the first time today, forgot the name of the dish, and it was delicious!!! I got some sort of pesto-type pasta with half a roast chicken....YUMMM! I did see someone with the lomo saltado as I was walking in, but I opted for the dish I ended up ordering. Next time ------- lomo saltado for sure. There isn't a huge menu so it won't take long to try everything on it, but I'm looking forward to the challenge.

Good lomo & pollo saltado. Lots of pollo a little skimpy on the lomo. Ordered to go, packed nicely.

My Soulmate has been telling me about this place for forever!! My boyfriend and I tried it yesterday and it was amazing. Like want to swim in it amazing. The lomo saltado was sooo good. The red onion, the french fries, the chimichurri sauce ekkkk. The platanos were delish as most platanos are! I think we need to try a few more dishes from this place, I am already looking forward to it. It is also super affordable, one plate can feed two very hungry people. The wait was a little long but well worth it. Def my new favorite place. Thanks soulmate and Peru. P.S. run by Japanese-Peruvians, I don't think I could heart that any more.

Mr. Pollo rocks! This is a tiny place, so around lunch time it is crazy to try to get a table, but it is worth it! I only ever get one thing, because I love it so much, the rotisserie chicken with rice and salad. But I have tasted the lomo saltado and this is very good, too. The thing I really, really love is the green salsa. I make sure to get my own squeeze bottle for my table and smother my rice with it. It is spicy and creamy and to die for.

1st time I have ever had Peruvian. It's good. Prices seem reasonable but crowded. May do take out next time. They need a website with a menu so that people can call in to place a take out order. It would be great if I could plan in advance to know what I want. Parking is limited as it's in a small strip mall.

This place is the best! My girlfriend took me here and we ordered the green spaghetti with grilled chicken...I forgot the name of the dish...but it was excellent!...the place is a bit small, but the food is great....I'm dying to go back!

Finally, decent Peruvian food outside of Los Angeles! Portions are much smaller than you will find at say, Mario's on Melrose, but it sure helps my cravings when I am at home near Covina. :)

Some of the reviews here I think expected too much (ex. food is too greasy, not enough items on the menu, blah blah blah). This place tries to catch the authentic Peruvian feeling, just a few basic things on the menu, and tons of food! Just like in Peru. Love their chicken. I have never tasted something I didn't like here. This is probably the closest you'll get to actually eating in Peru. Anyone recommending somewhere else is full of it. I've been to dozens of Peruvian restaurants around LA to cure the homesick feeling I get every now and then. Its all white washed Peruvian food. I am so glad this place opened close to my house, it definitely does the trick every single time. If you are a picky eater not looking for authentic food, but instead, like white washed versions of foreign cuisine, then go somewhere else. This place is for working class who need to grab a cheap bite, and go back to work.

I come to this place almost every or every other week. The place is small and always people. During weekdays, all the tables are full even @ 4pm!!! I usually call in and order for to go. The best dish there is the chicken (pollo) saltado. The whole chicken is great too. Don't forget the magical green sauce!!!

  • Linda C.

My friend had been going on and on about how great this place was, but I never bothered to try it. Finally I gave in and OMG!!! The food is delicious and the prize is not bad. The rostisserie chicken is really good and the fried bananas are the best. The red sauce is really spicy but really good, the green is not that spicy. Love this place.

This place definetly hits the spot. Pollo rostisado or the loma salsado is off the hook. Really good. There is a wait sometimes but usually the food comes out and its great. Love it. Parking can be a bit hectic during the lunch hour. try the peruvian coke. Fries are good.

I would give it 4.5 stars if I could. Upon first glance, this place is a little bit deceiving. It's in a small plaza next to a subway and small clothing store. And with the name I assume that it's another mexican restaurant along with the others on this street. But nope, it's Peruvian food!!! I've only had Peruvian food one other time at this other big chain restaurant, but this place is equally as good. Do they have that awesome green sauce? Yes they do. But be warned, DON'T pile it on because they make theirs nice and spicy. I also love putting that cilantro and olive oil sauce in my rice. Nom nom. I've tried the Lomo Saltado and Saltado de Pollo, and I've got to say I like the chicken better. I like the spaghetti too, so I guess it depends what you feel like having. Menu is small, but just means they only have to focus on a few items. People there are awesome, service is great. I phoned in a to go order once 10 minutes before closing and they still accepted the order. Portions are quite big so come famished. They also have combo platters with their rotisserie chicken, which are a little less expensive and good as well. And of course they have that awesome Inka Kola. Drink me!

this place is definately not a place for people trying to cut down on the carbs. so walking in, several of your senses get hit right away; sight, smell, touch. the sight of the chicken cooking in the rotisserie, the smell of the food, and the touch of the heat from the scorching summers day. with an empty stomach, you take it all in and order close to everything off their menu. so both the lomo/pollo saltado were decent, rather go for more meat than fries. the rice that came with the dice was very good. dunno how they cooked it or wut they cooked it in, but muy delicioso. their roasted chicken was just a touch too salty for my liking, but as stated by others it was juicy and not dry at all. the papas a la huanc, dont get it at all. cold, sliced up potato with some bland sauce on top. oooh, green and red sauce, AWESOME!!! so good.

  • Miss J.

i loove their chicken. sooo good. i always order the arroz chaufa de pollo. add some of their green sauce n chimichurri, so delicious!! place gets packed really quick. but its worth it! they also always make sure the place is kept clean.

This place is a good place to go if you want some lomo saltado. The portions are pretty good. The steak can sometimes be over cooked depending on the person cooking. The flavor is still pretty good. You get one free refill on your drinks depending which on you get.

  • Greg N.

I can honestly say that I have stood outside of this place waiting for the doors to open like a Peruvian food crack head. That being said, this is the best fast food peruvian resturaunt around. There are better sit downs but the food is still great. To top it off, its the cheapest too. Now you might be wondering why not 5 stars. The wait for food takes forever!!!! Go there before you're starving because you will faint by the time the food gets there. Or just call ahead and you'll be fine. I suggest Lomo saltado. Mmm enjoy!!!

    (4)
  • Christopher D.

Azusa's finest Lomo Saltado. Peruvian food have heavy dishes, and this is one of them. So worth it though, it has beef, onions, rice, and fries. If you ever ate at Mario's or El Pollo Inka, it's very similar. Lines could get long at Mr. Pollo so be ready. Have an Inca Cola can of soda while you wait, and another for the meal.

I was referred by a friend to this place and WOW! All the food is cooked fresh and hot, so put your feedbag on when you go! The service is great and it's super clean. If you are in the mood for something different than the usual mexican food, try this place.

This is almost a five star review, if it wasnt that parking and seating is so bad. Mr. Pollo is, without a doubt, the best roast chicken in the area. That's a calculated statement, not mere exaggeration. I've been coming here for years, ever since discovering on a whim. I definetly plan on remaining a loyal customer. It is situated in a pretty non assuming strip mall, and if you blinked while driving past it, you surely missed it. Parking is limited, and inside so is the seating. Just a few tables closely laid out, and the salsa music is often a bit too loud. Those are the bad points. The first think you notice when you walk in though is the open stainless steel roaster on one side, flames jetting out, and the delicious smell of molten fat falling on real hardwood embers. That's when you know you've come to the right place. Mr. Pollo slow roasts its chickens over low heat produced by burning what appears to be hickory. This is partly responsible for the delicious smell, and the fact that the poultry is always perfectly well cooked. The menu is pretty limited. If you know peruvian food, this is the typical rotisserie fare. A couple saltado dishes (stir fry), chaufa, and a few meat and potato plates. I'm partial to the tallarin saltado, stir fried noodles with red onion, cilantro, tomatoes, soy, and the meat of your choice, either steak or chicken. The chaufa (fried rice) is very simple, and not one of my favorites. A good lunch deal is the bisteck a lo pobre, a grilled sirloin topped with fried eggs, fried plantains, fries and rice, filling and affordable. The real draw to this place is of course, the pollo. It moves fast, so you can be sure your order is freshly roasted. You can order a half or a whole, with beans, rice, potatoes or salad. All the sides are good, but the fries are excellent. Freshly cut, salty yet not too greasy. The chicken itself is outstanding. I'm not sure what the condiment is, it looks like a mustard based herb rub. The slow roasting means the chicken stays juicy even though its cooked very thoroughly. The skin has just the right amount of crisp to it. To top it off the sauces are excellent. Theres the typical green aji sauce, a mayonaise based cilantro/jalapeno sauce thats spicy without being overwhelming. The red sauce is spicier and with more vinegar, good on beans and stir fries. Chimichurri is also available, as is a mix of mayo and ketchup that's meant for the fries. Prices are very reasonable, and the staff is pretty quick and friendly. This is one of my favorites. P.S When you order over the phone they usually say you can pick up your order in "10 Minutes", this usually means more like 25-30.

This place is off the hook! I too have searched high and low for a good peruvian restaurant. I used to drive all the way to Pollo Inka in Hawthorne when all along I had Mr. Pollo 5 minutes from my house. I had a student tell me about it. I didn't believe. Oh my! This place is soooo good. You would never think seeing it from the outside that's for sure. My fav. Lomo Saltado of course! Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. The only downfall I can say is their prices:( They are a bit high but like I said the food is sooo delicious! Gotta pay to play right???

Hey you "lomos salsado" its LOMO SALTADO ! Being peruvian, I have to admit that here you will try the BEST tasting lomo saltado in the wholw california. I tried over 20 other peruvian places and for LOMO SALTADO , this is the best. Also try bistek a lo pobre, and Lucuma ice cream. A total pleasure...

Once you taste this chicken you never going back to Pollo rostisado from Pollo Loco or any other mediocre Pollo changarro. This Peruvian Chicken is extremely delicious and tasty. I love all their side orders except for the mash potato. Their unique Peruvian sauces are awesome and are compliment to their chicken. Mr. Pollo and their staff are the BEST in San Gabriel Valley. I highly recommend this hidden treasure.

The chicken is decent and moderately priced but I've had better pollo a la brasa. Their rice, beans, and sauces are mediocre.

  • Rudy A.

This is the bestist LOL! Seriously the best pollo a la brasa. have tried several other spots and they dont even compare.! 5stars from me. I eat there a least once a week. The french fries are to die for and the green aji (chile) for those of you that dont know is awsome it burns you up. You feel like some kind of drug addict cause you cant stop eating it and its burning you up!

  • Suzanne M.

All I had was rotisserie chicken, beans, rice, salad, and cookies. The salad dressing could taste better and the cookies could be softer, compared to Kikiriki for example but everything else is very delicious, better than I have had elsewhere and the service is super friendly. SO glad I discovered this place! Can't wait to try other things off of their menu. I'd say 4.75.

You know a place is legit when you see multiple generations of peruvian families eating and having a good time, This is the type of food your mom would make if she was peruvian, full of LOVE. The food here is full of flavor. I've been to a few Peruvian places and this is by far the best. I do not eat too much red meat, so this review is all about the chicken and there side dishes. The Saltado is really good and fills you to the max. The rice is cooked perfectly with a hint of garlic flavor and adding the green house sause adds a jump kick :) They have a Passion Fruit Agua there that is so bomb, i always get a large when i visit so i have extra for after. The prices are reasonable, depending on how much food you want. The Pollo Saltado with a large Passion Fruit Agua will run you $11.50 !! For the quality of food, this is a bargin. I look forward to my next visit. I havn't tried there whole chicken but i hear good things.

First time trying this place and I am quite impressed. Very good Peruvian food with big portion. Small mom and pop shop. We had the lomo saltado and roastisary chicken and both were delicious.

The place is small but the food is delicious and the price is really wallet friendly -- no complaints except the size of the place, you tend to smell like you've been in a kitchen all day after eating lunch/dinner at the place.

lomo salto......bomb. wanted to get chicken but apparently it was going to take 30 min.....30 MINS!?!? it was already in the spit before we got there and it definitely was not going to take 30 mins but we had the chicken fried rice instead and was pleasantly surprised. it was really good. anyways, great food and not far from me so will go back for sure

Get it together Yelp cuz this spot isn't Spanish! Had I known this was a Peruvian joint I would have hit it a LOOOONG time ago!!! So I've seen Mr. Pollo in the same lot as my Subway (gotta eat fresh!) and never gave it a chance based off the outer appearance and non-appealing name ...... glad that changed today!!! I first got hooked on Peruvian Food from one of my coworkers who used to cook and bring me some for lunch from time to time. After she went back to Peru to be with her family I was only left with Pollo Inka in the Gardena area. Even though I work out that way it's still not that close. When I was randomly browsing yelp for food in my area, I saw the word Peruvian in one of the reviews and thought to myself, "ARE YOU F*CKING KIDDING ME?!?!?" This whole time I've have a Peruvian spot down the street and I didn't try it because of the damn name!! Needless to say their Saltado de Pollo was losing your virginity good!!! Make sure you don't forget that crazy yummy green sauce!!! My coworker told me it's actually made from blended lettuce with chile!!! I don't care what it's made of, that ish is D-LISH!!!! Don't judge this place off of it's appearance or you will be missing out on a real good thing! Mr. Pollo is calling..... now go put it in your mouth!!!

  • Joan S.

definitely my go-to peruvian food restaurant in this area. got the pollo and lomo saltado. our total came to around $20. wasn't the cheapest, but filling the meal was a pretty good size. plus, the sauces are delish!! i'll def. be visiting again soon!

Great rotisserie chicken! The store is small and kind of run down, which is the only downside. However, if you're just looking for some good food at a decent price, the stuff here is really good! The staff are also really nice.

    (4)
  • Ron L.

I didn't know Mr. Pollo served mashed potatoes! And the greasy chicken tasted so basted with grease. And I loved the watered down gassseee beans. In the comfort of a dining room with dirty floors and tables. Ooooh the mashed potatoes which I ordered extra crispy; were nicely mashed / smashed into the box with the chicken squishing them...hence...the smashed potatoes. Suggestion: Put the chicken in a seperate box. Don't smash them in the box together with fries.

  • Betty L.

Order: Loma Saltado & Half Rotisserie Chicken. Just order that, nothing can go wrong. The chicken was juicy and tender on the inside. The outside was flavored very well and every bite was savored. I was little surprised about the Loma Saltado though. Didn't expect fries in my dish, but the meat was very well marinated. For my first time having Peruvian food, not bad at all! :) The aji and chimchurri was amazing. It goes so well with everything I ordered. Wish I could just ask them for a recipe! The only downside is how packed this place was and it was just tough walking in and out of the place. There wasn't much parking either.

  • David F.

Man this place is amazing. My go to for Peruvian food. Lomo Saltado can not be beat. Their chicken just melts in your mouth. I don't remember the name of the green sauce, but it's the best I've ever had. Put it on the rice, and yum! And the prices are ridiculous - in a good way. I think everyone should go here. The only downside is that they are always busy and the place is small, but that just goes to show you that the food is top notch. If you live in the SGV, run don't walk to this place!

  • Matthew M.

Whenever I want some grilled chicken and salad this is where I go. But only to talk about grilled chicken and salad would not be doing this place justice. This is as close to Peruvian chicken as you can get here in the states. Your mouth will water!

  • Christina H.

I have never had Peruvian food before, and I'm so glad that this was my first try! They are amazing!! Just make sure you phone order if you are in a rush they get pretty packed. Other than that no complaints! I love this place

Tastiest food I've had in a while. The grilled chicken #4 is to die for. The light green spicy salsa is the best. Pour it on your garlic flavored rice! This Peruvian restaurant gets two thumbs up!

  • Jeanette T.

Came here for the first time on a Saturday afternoon. This was my first time ever having Peruvian food. I ordered the Lomo Saltado. It was good, but very salty. Like beyond salty. That was my only issue with the food. For the price, I found it a little pricey. My dish was about $10. Parking was packed, but I managed to find the last open spot. The sign says no public restrooms, but the guy told me to go ahead to the back thru the kitchen to use the restroom. The employees were really nice, so A for customer service.

My husband and I went yesterday and ordered the lomo saltado. It was the best!!! The service was great, the plates are huge for the price. And yes its as good as it looks if not better. Highly recommend this place.

Great food with quick service. We were there on a saturday around 8:30 even though they close at 9. We ordered the whole chicken with beans and rice and an order of arroz chaufa. The chicken was seasoned and juicy and the rice was brown and with rhe right amount of veg and meat. Definitely recommend if your in the area of west covina. Employees were young and very attentive and courteous. Great experience all around.

Came here through word of mouth. I didn't think the hype would equal the actual taste but this place was great. Fresh and flavorful saltado. They're usually packed so it might be a good idea to call ahead and check how long the wait is, or order take out.

  • Tracy T.

Great place to get my latin food fix and the aji sauce is legit here (although not as spicy as I would like). Go for the chicken or lomo saltado. If ordering to go I would call ahead since it gets pretty busy -- especially after work!

Delicious! My girlfriend and I found this place randomly on, where else, Yelp. We were in the area and wanted to find an interesting spot to eat. It's a very small place, so during rush times (we were there during lunch) the tables fill up quickly. I ordered the 1/2 chicken combo, and she ordered the steak combo so we could try both. The chicken and steak were both excellent. The 1/2 chicken combo came with a breast, wing, thigh, and leg, plus two sides. I got fries and pinto beans with it. The beans were pretty standard. I enjoyed the fries, but again weren't anything special. My girlfriend got rice and plantains with hers. Both were excellent! The fried plantains were delicious, and the rice was flavored perfectly. I ended up eating most of her rice. We'll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!

WOW pleasantly surprised to learn of this gem. I live within walking distance of this place and have passed it many times. By the name "Mr. Pollo" I assumed it was similar to either El Pollo Loco or maybe a chicken teriyaki place? I decided to yelp something near home and my filters was one $ icon [lowest prices] and highest rated, this place came up and the reviews intrigued me. I suggested to my wife we try it but the night we went [Monday] they were closed. So tonight [Thursday] I worked late had not had dinner yet and remembered that I wanted to try it. It's a small place, walk up counter to order and sit down to eat. The place was full, I chose the Lomo Saltado because I'd seen it mentioned in reviews. I took it home and shared with my girls and we all give it a thumbs up. The Chimichuri sauce is excellent. The entre is great, I also tried an Inka golden cola which is good but I prefer something bolder and maybe not as sweet [I'd prefer a drink like Malta] I will definitely be coming back, the prices are great and the service is good and with a smile. This is cool because I could walk there in less than 5 minutes.

Wow, I never knew good Peruvian food was around this location! In it's little plaza, I would of never guessed it. Even when my girlfriend and I went to eat here on a Saturday afternoon around 2PM, the place was empty, maybe 3 tables full, but after we ordered, a CRAZY rush came through and we while we ate, we understood why. The food at Mr. Pollo is made exceptionally well. The menu is small, but has all the favorites that people who know Peruvian food will enjoy. We got the Lomo Saltado and the Papa A La Huanc for our lunch date. The dishes were spot on and hit the spot. I do wish their green sauce had a kick to it. Other then that, we didn't get their chicken, but I think it's their staple which I will definitely try next time since they have a nice rotisserie rolling around with em in the kitchen. It keeps the place nice and warm.

We have had Peruvian food from numerous places. As such, I have certain expectations that may be difficult to meet. We had 3 Lomo Saltados and 1 Half Chicken meal with beans and rice. PROS Portions are HUGE! Rice has great flavor Good quality meat in Lomo with plenty of tomatoes and red onions. Chicken has good flavor CONS Ahi (green salsa) was too thick for my taste. Chicken was super dry Lomo plate was dry Fries in Lomo Saltado seemed stale. Too much spices in Lomo made it over-seasoned. It was better than some other places but no where near the quality and taste of Pollo Inka. Value = 10/10. Huge portions Flavor=7.5/10. I dont plan on going back. Service=8/10. They bring you your food and then you are pretty much on your own. Speed=8/10. Line is out the door. Location=5/10. In small corner shopping center Be careful with the sauce that has oil and chopped green leaves. It leaves you with breathe potent enough to lose friends and knock yourself out from all the garlic. Lol. Had to wash the meal down with spoonful of Thrifty's Rocky Road ice cream

My love for peruvian food is all thanks to Mario's peruvian in Melrose. Well, a client of mine (Sysco Foods) told me to come to this place since this is Sysco's customer. He highly recommended this place. So, I took the opportunity to come check his place out with him while conducting a meeting. Boy, I was so happy to have found a peruvian place near my house. There were 4 of us and each of us ordered the lomo saltado. We put a lot of green sauce on it. I liked the lomo saltado, but I do think that Mario's is a little better. However, it is not that much of a different to notice. I enjoyed every bite of my food. The portion is way too big to finish it for lunch so I got it to go. I later ate it as my dinner. Also, the price is great since it is only $10.19. At Mario's the price is about $13-15 and I would have to drive all the way to Melrose, and wait an hour plus for food. I am sold on Mr. Pollo. I will come back for more next time. Oh and yes, the bathroom is not public, so... if you have to pee, you would have to go to Norms, which is across the street. I want to go next time and try their rotissierie chicken. It is freshly made and it looks bomb! Until next time....

Came here for the first time and ordered take out. The service was fast; got my food right when I arrived. It was my first time eating Peruvian food and it was not too bad. I ordered the pollo saltado and it was very flavorful although it was a bit on the salty side. Probably won't come again unless in the area. Still worth a try though.

I really enjoy Peruvian food, so naturally, I decided to give this place a try. I do not have much to add that others who gave good reviews had not added... Good saltado the pollo and rotisserie chicken, good chicha morada (the red drink). I now have to try Misky Misky, which looks like is owned by the same people.

This place rocks!!! Chicken is mouth watering and very flavorful, and the sauces are perfect with chicken. The other dishes are good too. This place should be called KING POLLO don't miss out, im on my way to get another chicken now, bye.

This place is soooo good. My friend brought me here for lunch and I have been hooked ever since. The food is excellent. I love the chicken and rice combination with the authentic sauces. My family really enjoys it and I make sure we have it at least once a week.

I was really disappointed when they told me they can't sub out the rice for salad. He didn't really offer for us to just get a side salad as well as our order but I guess it's my job to figure that out. I get frustrated with inflexibility. It took awhile to get my order but it was worth it. The Saltado de Pollo was really good even it was a little more on the oily side. The chicken was juicy and the sauce was perfect. I'm pretty much obsessed with the aji verde sauce right now and wish I could just stuff one of those big containers in my purse (Asian at buffet style). I think I'll call ahead to order next time.

Best place to get milanesa! Their friend plantains are amazing as well! Always great food and service, it's always super packed but that's just because people love it. And don't be afraid to get the maracuya water it's delicious!

Mother fucking diamond in the rough. It's my favorite go-to "what do you want to eat? i don't know" restaurant. Never disappoints. Pro-tip: When calling ahead, always arrive 15-20 minutes after the time given on when it will be ready. - Mark Inocentesâ„¢

One of the best peruvian restaurants around. I always come here with friends to try out dishes. It's very cheap and the atmosphere is great. The only downside is that it's usually very crowded so getting food to go sometimes may be a good option.

I need to express the frustration when you so a phone order and then show up thirty minutes as quoted. They others would come in and they would by pass the ones who ordered telephonically. I admit their food is good but the service either has to improve or their customer service is not good. Terrible to see others come and get served as to go when we paid already in advance. Their system has to improve and their business has grown and they need to make changes to accommodate the volume.

Lomo Saltado. That's all you need to know. Wish the place was bigger!

  • William B.

Like everybody else, I had the Lomo saltano or whatever, it was delish. It was a flavorful mixture of meat, fries, and fried veggies. All the flavors just kind of oozing around the dish all over each other like a big flavor orgy. The fries mixed in there are great because they absorb all the yumminess! I took advantage of the mini sauce bar and grabbed some of the garlic pesto and some of their Verde sauce but ended up ditching the Verde all together and just dousing everything in the pesto sauce, which is rich and tasty if you like pesto. Try it out, small menu which I like because it makes it easy to pick what you are going to munch on.

I love mr. Pollo. We lived in the area and frequented often. After we moved we tried a few other Peruvian places and none of them compared. We make the hour long drive here whenever we can. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The place is usually crowded but they have a good system to get people seated.

    (5)
  • Raquel C.

Oooh lord! If only I lived closer to stop by more often!! This place is REALLY REALLY GOOD! I ordered the Lomo Saltado and its so flavorful and filling! Its usually very busy so place your order to go.

First time here, was highly recommended by my co-workers so I decided to check them out since it was just down the street. Ordered the Lomo Saltado chicken...LOVE IT!!!! Esp with their homemade green sauce, heh. Very Delicious Puruvian food. Definitely coming back here for the chicken...but call beforehand to place ur order...wait is a bit long.

Very casual Peruvian restaurant. Though parking is slightly packed and the place is small and looks a little shabby, don't let it's exterior be the judge of trying it out! Tried a few different dishes, but lomo saltado is probably the best of them all! Also the cookie is really good. Surprised at how much I actually enjoyed the meal! Again, don't judge a book by its cover! Come give rhis place a try!

Ever since i saw pollo saltado on food network I wondered where I could get it. Thanks to Steven N. my wish was granted. Mr. Pollo is in a random small strip mall in West Covina. The restaurant is small and was pretty packed with people during lunch time. I ordered my food, sat down, and within 10 minutes a piping hot plate of goodness was brought out to me. Lomo Saltado is beef, onions, peppers, and french fries sauteed in oil and delicious sauce. The dish comes with rice and is a bit salty, but it plays well with the green sauce they have at the counter. I have no idea what is in that stuff, but it is bomb.com . The red sauce they have is really spicy to me, but i usually like really spicy stuff. I want to go back to try some of their chicken plate combos.

Always amazing! This is a little place, hole in the wall but the food is delicious. Pollo Saltado is my favorite, and it actually has chicken! They don't give u a plate full of fries and onions. Reasonable pricing as well. Only con is that it is super small and not too clean, not sure if it's because it's always so packed or just lack of cleanliness from the staff

  • Michael L.

Heard about this place after going to Misky Misky. I used to live in LA years ago and used to go to a Peruvian place called Don Felix, but after moving to Covina, I hated the hour drive for good Peruvian food. Now my drive is only 5 minutes! The Lomo Saltado was spectacular and was quite a generous portion. I have found my new favorite spot and will recommend to anyone. Great job!!!

  • Louie T.

Their chicken here is amazing! Hole in the wall middle of nowhere place in Azusa Ave in a ghetto strip mall but the food here doesn't disappoint. Mark most if the time. I usually come here for the chicken which is always juicy and flavorful. A few days ago I tried the steak which was somewhat dry and the chimi churri they use there was a bit salty. It's probably because my wife makes it better but again the chicken here is great nonetheless.

    (4)
  • Dorothy L.

Uh yum!!! One of the best Peruvian food you can find in the area!! Shoutout to whoever makes the sauce and chimichuri! The price is great for the portion. The only downside is the ambience and decor. All the table are really close to each other and it's really small. Not the best for a date.

    (4)
  • Cesar V.

The food is ok, a lot of pepper on everything, no AC so don't stop after 3:00 pm when the sun is facing the windows or else it will feel like a sauna. Food didn't come out all at ones. All in all I won't be coming back.

  • Raquel O.

Love the Lomo Saltado, my favorite. The chicken is rotisserie but it has a very unique flavor that I can't describe, kind of mesquite or smoky flavor it is also very good with a side of the garlic butter rice. Very reasonably priced. The only suggestion I have is call ahead because it is always busy and takes about 15 to 20 minutes to get your order.

    (4)
  • Jason L.

Have ordered their wood fire roasted chicken an few times since and just recently the green pasta with flank steak. Both are absolutely amazing! The chicken is very tender, including the breast meat. The skin is crisp and full of flavor. The green pasta is infused with the garlic, basil, and spinach of the green sauce with a hint of parmesan cheese and cooked beautifully. I was honestly expecting the thin steak to be dry and was glad to be wrong. It had a nice grill marks to it while still quite tender. Lomo saltado still never disappoints and I slather both the aji verde and chimichurri sauce on everything! Since it is a small place and always gets packed I make sure to phone in the order before picking it up.

    (5)
  • Adam T.

The Lomo Saltado was the bomb; aji sauce was real spicy; some places i've been to have aji sauce that isn't spicy at all; after Marios and Mamita'a Mr. Pollo is the place to go!!!

  • Lovella A.

This is possibly one of the best hole in the wall joints in Wesco and is definitely a local favorite. Their lomo saltado and rotisserie chicken always hits the spot! Their meals are also well portioned as well - I usually get two meals out of one order. I personally don't like dining in here just because it's such a small space so I usually take my food to-go. You should definitely call at least 15 minutes ahead and depending how busy they are you still (might) have to wait. Their aji (green) sauce is on the spicier side but it brings a good kick to your food! I also like putting their chimchurri sauce on my rice just to give it more flavor. I also appreciate that they have plantains here too - it's such a great dessert after such a hearty meal!

Best Peruvian food I've had! Seating in the restaurant is limited but and I've never been there when it wasnt packed with people! But its so worth it! My favorite is the lomo saltado!! Must get the green sauce!

Went here a few weeks ago because I love Peruvian food and this was the only one in the area along with the fact that my friend who's Yelp elite told me that this place was popular among the elite crowd. I ordered the lomo saltado which I've had many times at other Peruvian places and it was just OK. Definitely not bad and I'm sure I will have it again at some point but it's not even close to amazing. The dish was a bit over sauced in my opinion. In terms of the menu, it's limited in comparison to other Peruvian restaurants but probably because it's more of a fast service type of place vs. sit down. The restaurant is pretty small but there was seating available. It's located in a strip mall so there was plenty of parking spots (one less headache). All in all, it was just OK, nothing to write home about.

OHMYGOSH I HAVE FINALLY TRIED PERUVIAN FOOD! HALLELUJAH, I FINALLY FOUND A FRIEND WILLING TO GO WITH ME! Now that thaaaat's out of my system, let's get this started. The lomo saltado here... Three words. SO. FREAKING. GOOD. How good? Well, I haven't written a Yelp review in yeaaaars. But after consuming that delicious plate of steak and potatoes drenched in that amazing sauce, I felt compelled to write a review telling anyone willing to read my insanely long reviews JUST HOW FREAKING DELICIOUS IT IS. Me? I'm a meat and potatoes girl. I love steak. I love potatoes. So a dish with the two things I love to eat the most thrown together with a yummy sauce? YEAH, JENNY LY WRITTEN ALL OVER IT. I seriously don't know why it took me this long to find a Peruvian restaurant within a 20 mile radius of me.. Oh wells. Why live in the past? The point is.. I finally tried it and I am LOVING IT. The service here is pretty good. They were kind enough to wait for me while I decided which side I wanted -- the fries plantains or the mashed taters. Let me tell you, this place gets BUSY. I didn't realize how popular it was! When my friend and I arrived, it was pretty slow. No more than 15 minutes later, I'm walking around to the sauce bar and I feel like I'm at a damn club because the sauce bar is right next to the register! "Excuse me. Coming through! I just need to get over there!" So definitely expect a wait if you're coming here for dinner time. You pretty much have to just hawk eye everyone sitting down and make a bee line for the next available table. That typa deal. Let's talk about the lomo saltado. That's the star of the restaurant, am I not right? When that glorious plate was put in front of me and I took a great, big whiff, I swear I was in heaven. I took my first bite and I kid you not, the biggest smile appeared on my face. My friend can vouch for me! My high expectations were surely met. It was so delicious that I basically ate myself into a food coma in under 20 minutes! The portion is generously sized so I couldn't finish it, but I ain't complaining! I GET TO HAVE THE REST FOR LUNCH AT WORK TOMORROW! YEEEEEE! The steak was very tender and juicy, not chewy like another reviewer said, but maybe we had different cooks? The french fries does tend to get on the soggier side the longer it sits in the sauce, but that's not something that bothers me that much. Maybe I'll ask for crispier fries next time? BECAUSE YOU KNOW I'LL DEFINITELY BE A FREQUENT PATRON OF THIS FINE ESTABLISHMENT! I'm going to dedicate a whole paragraph to... THE GREEN SAUCE AND THE CILANTRO OIL THINGY! Sigh. That green sauce..... do they put crack in it? I think they do. Have you guys ever been to La Victoria's in San Jose? Their orange sauce? THAT, MY FRIENDS, IS THE EPITOME OF CRACK SAUCE. And the green sauce at Mr. Pollo's? Very, very, verrrrrry close second. I had done loads of reading about this place before I went this evening and since everyone raved about the sauce, I made it a mission to take an entire bottle to our table. Sorry fellow Mr. Pollo patrons, I had to do it. I left some left in there.... just a little..... Man oh man, that sauce. Anywhos, tl;dr version? Lomo saltado is great. Get the green sauce and cilantro oil, you won't be disappointed. Try to go during the non-lunch and -dinner hours because it does tend to get busy. I'll definitely be back to try some of the other dishes. :)

Whenever I crave Peruvian food, I head to this place. probably the best Peruvian joint in the 626 area. I don't think its the best Lomo saltado I ever had but it is definitely the best in the area. Small place so seating is very limited. Even parking can be bad so good luck! But food is great and price is reasonable. Portions are good too. There may be a wait time after you order so be prepared and patient. It's worth it.

  • Livingston W.

Hole in the wall sorta fast food kinda place. They need a bigger restaurant, The place was packed and there was a steady stream of take out orders. I had Beef steak with a pesto spaghetti. Totally amazing. We also had a sort of baked potato dish slathered in an exquisite cheese sauce. We have had two outstanding meals there and will go again-or wherever they move to because packed is the normal state.Maybe they can convince the nearby Denny's to go away? HINT- go near opening . Less crowded. As I have said before, fast food and efficiency dining can never and should never rate a five so four it is- a strong four.

Mr.Pollo was my first time having Peruvian cuisine so I can't comment on its authenticity, but the food here was fantastic! I had the steak with rice and plantains. Steak was tender, well seasoned, and even better with the spicy green sauce. The white rice was simple and reminiscent of my mom's white Mexican rice, so that was pleasant. My absolute favourite part of the meal were the plantains! I haven't had plantains like those since my days in Costa Rica so that was a great treat. I'd come back just for a plate of those! Definitely give this place a try, although maybe not during the lunch rush as this place is tinyyyy.

I was really excited to try this place because it's in my neighborhood. It was decent for a little hole-in-the-wall type place, but really nothing to write home about. Super small inside and also stuffy....I was feelin' a little claustrophobic while waiting to pick up our take-out order. I love that we were able to get as much aji verde [green sauce] and chimichurri as we wanted. We took plenty to go! I could drink the aji verde...so freakin' bomb on everything! The staff was very friendly so that's a plus. Saltado de pollo: Very tasty, but i've had much better elsewhere. Some of the chicken was dry so that was a bit of a let down. Fries and veggies were delicious. Chaufa de pollo: VERY VERY GOOD. This dish was a huge hit with the homies. Splash it with chimichurri and the dish is flawless! Tallarin verde con bistek: I looooove tallarin and this didn't disappoint. I don't eat red meat so I let the rest of the gang handle the bistek, but the pasta itself was very good...even the next day when I ate the leftovers for lunch! Overall....not too shabby. I think I'd go back if I ever needed a Peruvian fix and too lazy to drive to my favorite Peruvian spot in Torrance. Maybe I'll give the saltado de pollo another chance....but that chaufa de pollo will be hard to resist!

  • Mikey L.

I NEVER had Peruvian food until now, so there isn't any comparison I can give for those who wants their "authentic" peruvian fix. But I can say that the food was full of flavor and tasty. I had their lomo saltado and my friends got their chicken. I didn't know what to expect but I didn't care (at that time), I just wanted to eat good food and boy, the food did just that. The chicken was roasted perfectly and lomo saltado was well seasoned and mixed well. Of course, as everyone else, add the green sauce! A little warning, this place is SMALL. it's not ideally for BIG party. when I was there, we had to wait over 15mins after we order to get a seat. because of a big party, they had to push tables together. and got them to sit first since they were ahead of us. Usually it's first come first seating, AFTER you order your food. They don't like people saving tables before you order. However you don't really have to worry about seatings. BUT when it does get really crowded, they start clearing tables and putting them on reserves for those who already ordered and are going to eat there. Overall, I love it and definitely be coming back...... .. . on a weekday. weekends are just too crowded for my liking.

Mario's Peruvian in LA is definitely my favorite place to grab Lomo Saltado/Saltado de pollo but LA is too far so Mr. Pollo gets second place. Small menu, small place, but most good things come in small packages. Chicken is moist although scarce in the pollo Saltado, perhaps a little too salty as well but you can fix that by adding some flavorful chimichurri sauce or their delicious aji verde sauce. I like how juicy the Saltados come out because you can use the rice to sop it all up. Serving size big enough to split into two meals. Friendly service and clean dining area. Call in your order to avoid the long line and wait, or else you'll be sitting in their dining room salivating at the roasting chicken, wishing you had some in your mouth already.

Great food you won't be disappointed. If your trying to watch your carbs I recommend the grilled chicken breast and salad. Their dressing and salsas are delicious. They're usually busy so prepare to take food to go.

If you like salt apparent in your food, by all means, Lomo Saltado. This home-down South American cuisine is something I would have craved and feened for back in the day. Back into time. Like college days when I didn't care about organic or whatever ish sells. Fusion not. Place: We got our food to-go. Which on a weekend, be warned, can pack up like sardines. Prepare to wait 30 mins or so, even such. And don't get all hissy fit because there is absolutely no waiting area. THIS IS A SMALL PLACE. No restrooms too. You are standing in line to order and 2 inches away from a seated patron. Food: The chicken is fabulously seasoned and roasted. I'm mad I didn't get more than half chicken order and my husband ate it all, hardly sharing. Well, I was too busy scarfing down the Lomo Saltado with chimichurri sauce which lucky for you, they will happily provide a handful of to-go containers to fill'r up. The mysterious light green sauce in the squeeze bottle is so mysterious. Like you'd think it's creamy salsa verde, but the thing packs a spicy punch so taste with caution. The white rice comes with entree. The L.S. dish itself is a bit greasy, but who cares if you're going to add even more sauciness. I have had Peruvian food before, so this is up there to being good eats.

Excellent food and service. The space is small but always busy. Wouldn't know from the outside but this place has fantastic food.. One of the most flavorful Lomo Saltado I've ever had and the chicken causa & papa a la huancana are so yummy as well . Definitely a hidden gem. Their aji (green) sauce is on the spicier side but it brings a good kick to your food! I also like putting their chimchurri sauce on my rice just to give it more flavor. I also appreciate that they have plantains here too - it's such a great dessert after such a hearty meal! FYI I gave it 4 stars because no bathroom and after that sauce sometimes you need one lol!!!

This is the type of place I would never consider stopping at without the recommendation of a well-informed Peruvian friend. THANK GOD my friend told me about Mr. Pollo!! Definitely one of the most consistent, delicious Peruvian restaurants in Southern California. It gets very busy during the evening and weekends, but well worth the wait. Obviously the pollo a la brasa es delicioso, but the lomo saltado, tallarin verde, chaufa de pollo, and causas are all worth a try. Aji on everything. Inka cola to drink. Perfecto.

I am from Vegas and overtime I head over to L.A. this is one of the many places I go to. I had some chicken with the green noodles (sorry I forgot what it was called) Anyways, it was all bomb!! Plus, it is pretty cheap. We got two orders of chicken and some of the noodles with beef and it fed four people. All in all, great food and it is very reasonable. Must try!!

This place has grrrreat food. The loma Saltado is to die for but, you'll die trying to eat it on a Saturday around 6pm. It's gets too crowded for it's own good, 30+ minutes for a rake out order, good luck on getting a table. Food is excellent tho, Authentic and very hearty.

First off, when I think of the name Mr Pollo, I'm assuming its another El Pollo Loco but I was wrong! Its Peruvian food! Yelped and saw all those amazing food which reminds me of El Pollo Inka and Mario's... I guess I don't have to drive far since its just down the street from me! Thank goodness we ordered ours to go since it was packed and busy on a Sunday night. Lomo Saltado was alright but my fries was soggy and drenched in with the sauce. The meat was good with lots of onions and tomatos while the rice tasted like it was cooked in chicken broth since it was so flavorful. Food here is actually cheaper and better than El Pollo Inka and Mario's. Green sauce here is much spicier here. Food taste even better the next day!!! Located right across the street from Food 4 Less and is in the plaza next to Subway

Worst service of all time. 30 minutes and no food. 6 people who ordered after me got their food immediately. I wasnt even given an appology. I just asked for a refund and they had nothing to say to me. Absolutely unbelieveable. Will not go back no matter how good their food may be. If you want crap service and to wait 40 minutes for a meal feel free to go.

Lomo Saltado and Tallarin Verde con Bistek please! Thanks to the tips on Yelp, I knew to phone in the order and just take it to go. This place is always packed and I'm not surprised because the food is delicious and reasonably priced.

I've had better. I'll tell you where in a second. I had the Saltado de Pollo. A bit saucy and salty for my taste. It was decent at best. They serve a good portion with NO sides. A bit pricey for what you get. El Pollo Inka, which has locations in Torrance and Gardena (I enjoy the Torrance location) serves up a generous lunch portion of their Saltados with warm rolls and their infamous "Aguadito de Pollo". Warm rolls, Aguadito de Pollo, and your Lomo or Pollo Saltado for LESS than what you get from Mr Pollo. El Pollo Inka also has a full size restaurant to enjoy....Mr Pollo is a very small store front that gets full very quick ... It's the size of a typical subway location .... It gets so full that you have people hovering over you while you eat waiting for a table or their to-go order. Very uncomfortable. The food at Mr Pollo took too long to be served. So long the folks that ordered AFTER me, got their food first. I was a party of ONE...they had several in their party. I was afraid that may happen when I saw my ticket placed on the table next to the register along with numerous others and it seemed like employees were trying to figure out who gets what and in what order. I wouldn't come back. I'd rather take the drive to Torrance or keep searching for another local Peruvian restaurant. Oh...I also heard the same owners of Mr Pollo own Misky Misky...a new trendy Peruvian restaurant in West Covina with HIGHER prices for smaller portions. My understanding is that you pay for the ambiance at Misky Misky and not the food.

Very casual and chill fast food Peruvian restaurant in an undesirable plaza, but the food makes up for it! My dearest friend and fellow yelp elite, Shanon Yu introduced me to Mr. Pollo awhile back! I love their grilled, seasoned chicken breast with rice, salad, and the secret green sauce. The chicken is so juicy and tender. I love smothering my dish with olive oil and that green sauce....heavenly. The portions here are pretty big, and for such awesome prices and the quality taste, who wouldn't be a fan of this place??

  • Benson H.

I love Peruvian food and there really isn't much worth talking about in the area except this place. But what is really good is their wood fired rotisserie chicken! They have a really tasty marinade and once you put some of their green sauce or red sauce or chimichurri on it you're done. If you get their chicken lunch combo it's super cheap. Just make sure to call in your order because it takes 15 minutes (even if they say 20 minutes)

Best Peruvian food in southern California! The seasoning and flavors are remarkably authentic! They dont have variety, but their lomo saltado, tallarin saltado, and specially the arroz chaufa (fried rice) are very well served, and have this mix of peruvian spices and asian twist only found in Peru cuisine. The rostisere chicken is cooked to perfection as well! The drinks are just ok. They sell maracuya (passion fruit) and chicha morada (sweet purple corn), but you can totally tell they are from powder mix (not freshly made). They also sell an amazing chimichurri sauce!! Oh, also, the place is always packed. So i always have to order to go. Environment: 2/5 (order to go, it is best) Price: 5/5 Flavor: 7/5 Service: 5/5 Organization: 5/5 (wait time is usually no more than 20 mins for your whole order!) Totally recommended!

so disappointing. First off, this place is in a small plaza which is packed with tight parking spaces. So you might have trouble with parking depending on what time you come. Service was friendly which is always a plus. This is a small establishment so the tables are pretty close to each other. There's probably 11 tables altogether so its definitely not good for larger parties. My boyfriend ordered the Bisteck de lo Pobre which he really enjoyed minus the fries, he found those to be disappointing. I ordered the Lomo Saltado which consisted of meat mixed with slices of onion, tomato and fries with a side of white rice. I also ordered the medium size fried plantains which looked more like a small size. The sauce on the Lomo Saltado was very salty which kind of overpowered my meal. I'm not too crazy about this place, I'll definitely give it a try again, but in the future I'll take it to go.

4.5 Stars Recently my coworker brought me here for lunch. I was kind of skeptical because I've had Peruvian food before and it just tasted like bland, watered down Mexican food. Well, my myopic taste buds have definitely changed for the better because Mr. Pollo was really, really great. A couple things that really impressed me is that the food was really excellent. Though most people I'm sure get the chicken, I got the steak because it looked so awesome and it was. Their sauce which resembles a chimichurri sauce was really flavorful as well. Next time, I'll get the chicken. Oh, they have a wood fired rotating spit that's open for all to view. My oh my does the sight of those rotating little yard birds make me wanna just grab one and go! Seating is not that great, so definitely come early. Accordingly because of the strip mall location, parking was a little tight but we got lucky. Service was excellent as was their seating policy. No seat squatting until you order. I like that! They even had Inca Cola, but since I was being treated, I refrained. Inca Cola I swear has crack in it.

Mr. Pollo is the 2nd Peruvian joint I've ever had, and it blew the first place outta the park. I had the lomo saltado, and the flavor was just insane. The gravy that they pour over the rice and fries was incredibly savory, I actually wish they had given me a little more of it. The meat was tender and the big chunks of tomatoes and onions were a nice touch to balance texture and flavors with the heavy sauce, rice, and fries. Not sure if you can call in an order, but I'm definitely gonna look in to it next time. This spot has maybe 12 tables, and we waited about a half hour for our food. I, without a doubt, will be coming to this place more often.

Everybody has to try Mr. Pollo, because once you do, you'll continue to come back. This is the place where I tried Peruvian food for the first time, and I was not disappointed. They have combos that come with an entree, 2 sides and a drink for a very reasonable price. I've tried both the steak and chicken, which are very good. But if you want to have the most authentic experience, you have to get the Lomo Saltado. It's french fries mixed with beef, red onions, tomatoes, and some addicting sauce. Comes with white rice which ties everything together. It can get very busy and crowded during certain times (lunch and dinner), but it is well worth the wait. I'll definitely be coming back!

Great stop if you're craving for lomo saltado. The place is very tiny so avoid peak times (lunch time) but okay for To-Go. Don't forget the green and the white sauce. I doubt that I will dine in but definitely I will come back again & again for food to go. I would've given it a 5 star but because the ambiance is "a-ok" and their selections are limited hence the 4 stars. Don't get me wrong, the food is amazing and I highly recommend this place.

Continues to be the best place for Peruvian rotisserie chicken...the chicken is slowly roasted over firewood and it's absolutely awesome paired with their chimichurri (dark green) and aji verde (creamy light green) dipping sauces. I've tried some other chimichuri sauce before and this is the best version. Goes great with the rice as well. I believe they tweaked the aji verde sauce recently cuz it seems to be a lot spicier than before..still deeeelicious!

This place is very good. A small place, so if you come here during rush hour, you might have to wait for a table. I usually get 1/4 or 1/2 chicken with rice and salad. The chicken is good. My husband gets the lomo saltado. My husband loves the lomo saltado. It goes well with rice that it comes with. I like their aji sauce (spicy) and chimichurri sauce. Chimichurri sauce has a lot of garlic. I love garlic so I put that sauce over my rice, and it tastes so good! My husband thinks there is too much garlic in it so he prefers the aji sauce.

My first time trying Peruvian food here. Decided to give it a try due to all the positive Yelp reviews. I'm a fan! So far I've tried the Lomo Saltado (juicy steak and fries), 1/2 Chicken (very moist, not dry at all) and Chicken Fried Rice, all were clear winners! The self serve sauces are also very tasty! Came on a Tuesday night and there wasn't a wait, but the tables were 90% filled. Food came out promptly in about 5-7 minutes. Parking is a bit tight as it's in a small business plaza. Can't wait to try out all the other things on the menu!

Lomo saltado was good. Nothing to complain about. Probably their best seller! Bistek de lo porbe was not what I was hoping for! Flat piece of steak, no flavor, dry, and was missing the UMP/"WOW" factor. I've ordered this dish at many places prior as this was not my first time eating Peruvian and this had to be one of the worst! The Fried plantains were good. If you order that dish, make sure you grab the green sauce at the front counter and drench the meat in it to get some flavor. [***warning, that sauce is a tad on the spicy side] it's located in the same plaza as subway. shared parking lot with other business. small place that gets packed pretty fast. they take credit card. there's a tip jar by the cashier. limited menu options. how it works: you go to the counter. order. pay. grab a stick with a name of a city i believe in peru and grab a seat. they'll bring it out to you which includes plates, utensils, drinks, etc. you do however will need to grab the sauce, napkins, and a tablet ASAP. i saw individuals who would ask their eating partner in crime order and they'll grab a table. no public restrooms which also means no restroom for customers. overall, i'll come back to probably try their chicken and get the lomo saltado again. the boyfriend really liked it here! 4 stars for the lomo saltado, service, and it's more of a fast food peruvian joint [which i think is pretty cool!!].

I would always drive Mr. Pollo. I was kind of skeptical of going in there. I am really glad that I did there rotisserie chicken is so moist it just falls of the bone. I recommend this place if you're in the West Covina area, very reasonable. Plus they have great service.

amazing food! Only reason why not ranking it five stars is because of the new increases in pricing. What made the place amazing was the great value you were receiving, now it's just a regular place with great food

This review is way past due. I have been going back to this place since i started going there one year ago! I have tried almost everything on the menu and I definitely have my favorites. The chicken is amazing! I normally get the half chicken with rice and salad. Their chimmichurri is also pretty good! I put that stuff on everything! The portions are more than enough for me. The price is also really good. There is always a line, but worth the wait. I have recommended this place to almost everyone I know!

Love love love the pollo saltado! This is one of the only Peruvian restaurants around the area. It's fairly small but it gives you the mom and pop restaurant feeling. Everything in their menu is good and yummy. I go here at least once a month

Came here because I both heard and read a lot of really good reviews about the place. They had a combo dinner for like $14 that came with chicken, steamed rice and some other sides that you can choose. No one in my family really cares for steamed rice so we asked if we could substitute for some other type of rice they had. We expected to be able to do this and pay a little extra, no big deal. Wrong. You can not substitute for the other kind of rice, instead you have to buy everything separately. Our meal, went from $14 to $28 just to change the type of rice. Really?? But, with good reviews in the back of our minds, we assumed that it would be worth it. Wrong again! The platanitos was a tiny portion, as were the beans...no where near the size that you would get at any other place. The chicken.....I don't know if I have ever had chicken that was more dry than the way this place cooked it. The rice that we had was okay. Nothing special, but not bad by any means either. Definitely not worth the extra $14! Definitely would not come back again.

Mr. Pollo, where have you been all my life? As others have stated, the lomo saltado is to die for. If you could only get one item from the menu, get it. You won't regret it. It's freaking amazing. My #2 pick is the tallarin verde bisteak. The green sauce --- go ahead and dump that over everything!! *Note: I've tried the chicken and found it to be dry. I guess I just got it on a bad day :/

I have mixed feelings about the actual place than the food. I ordered the Whole Chicken Meal--which tasted good, at best--but the experience I had at this place was a bit frustrating. For starters, the place is cramped. My little boy and I had to stand in a corner and wait for our meal to be ready. I kept seeing people bumping elbows and trying their hardest not to make contact with the stranger sitting next to them as they tried to eat their food. Did I mention this place is cramped? Finally, our chicken meal was ready and my son and I had to squeeze through the chairs and tables filled with people to pick up our meal. I would definitely order ahead if I ever return to this place. The chicken was good, the fries that came with the meal were bland and soggy, the mashed potatoes were as bad as the fries. I will go to Juan Pollo next time, or even Jim's Burgers, if I have a craving for roasted chicken.

my new spot! my first time trying Peruvian food was here after a grilling day of construction work. not sure if i was overly hungry, or the food is good but everything tasted awesome. However, when i went back for the second time two weeks later, it was still good but not as good as my first time there. def. a good spot to try when you are in the area!

There are no words to describe the tasty food they serve at this little quaint establishment .I enjoy the delicious dishes: 1. Lomo Saltado 2. Papa la huancaina 3.Causa and the desert these little delicious cookies Alfajores.I love Peruvian food even more now that I had the pleasure of dinning here.I hope they expand to a much larger location.Until they do remember to always call ahead to order for pick up and yes it is definitely worth the wait if u dine in or order take out .I do know about Peruvian food I'm married to a Peruvian.Best place by far...!!!!!

I saw some crazy fire action here, and it was cool! It was also super packed and it made me feel a bit claustrophobic since the shades were down and the door was closed. I didn't order much, just the papa a la huancaina and an Inka Cola. The papa a la huancaina was tasty, potatoes were cooked perfectly and the cheese sauce (pungent) had a bit of a kick, but not too overpowering with the spices. However, it's a bit pricey for just potatoes. (My Quechua Professor made this for me a couple of times, and nothing compares to homemade) If you're wondering what Inka Cola tastes like, well, most people say it tastes like fizzy bubble gum. ahahaha I give this place 4 stars for making some tasty papa a la huancaina, minus 1 star for awkwardness. Will be back for the other dishes, I promise!

Peruvian food has always been my "go-to" cuisines. Lomo saltado and their roasted chicken is to die for. The only issue with this restaurant is the space. Its very cramped inside with limited seating. But the food makes up for it!

  • Laura S.

Came with a group and tried the chicken plate, Tallarin Saltado and Lomo Saltado. The chicken was juicy and went well with the green sauce. It came with salad and mashed potatoes (nothing to write home about - I barely touched the mashed potatoes because I didn't want to waste space!) The Tallarin Saltado is good if you're in the mood for noodles, but the Lomo Saltado was DELICIOUS. I'm hungry just thinking about it. Eat it with the green sauce and call it a day.

You get a really good deal for what you pay here! I got the Combo #1, which was only like $7 for a whole meal (chicken and two sides) with a drink. The chicken is definitely cooked well, not dry at all, and I got the salad, for which they definitely give a huge portion that I couldn't even finish. But the highlight of my meal was the rice! Rice rice rice rice rice - just know it's NOT your ordinary white rice. I don't even know what's in it, but it has this subtle savory flavor that makes it so gooood. I could just eat that rice by itself for DAYS.

Does my review even matter? This place already has a huge fan base so this is really just me ranting. Disclaimer: my review is based solely on my one time order here to go. I got their Lomo saltado. Honestly I've had better. They kind of skimped on the meat and gave me all fries and onions. Still, the flavors were very authentic. Also, I'm pretty upset that they didn't give me their green sauce to go. maybe I should have dined in because everything was a soggy mess by the time I ate it. I went around lunch time and the tiny little restaurant was unpleasantly PACKED. Like it was musty in there. Took about 25 mins to get my food. Overall, I satisfied my craving here. But my all time favorite is still el pollo imperial in long beach.

This place serves one of the best chicken I've ever had in my life. I've only had their roasted chicken and it is very tasty and savory. The meat was smooth and tender and the skin was crazy good. The green sauce that everyone talks about from previous comments are true so you better not miss them. The pinto beans don't have anything special and their french fries suck so avoid those. The only thing I didn't like about this place is the wait time. I estimate around 20-25 mins wait.

  • Glenn R.

Saltados are excellent. The chicken breast meal is perfect for those lighter days but the portions are still generous. The green sauce has just the right amount of spiciness. Nice to have a great Peruvian spot close to work.

#4 grilled chicken with side of salad and rice add grwen sause and waahla!! The best plate on the menu. Family owned resturant. Seating is limited but worth it. only bad experience is you walk out smelling like a bbq chicken ! Lol. I dont care it worth it.

This place is sooo good! It's hard to find a good Peruvian place. I'm part Peruvian and a little picky with Peruvian food. They do need to get a bigger place though. There's hardly ever an open table. I rather order take out.

Came here to finally pop my lomo saltado cherry, and I'm glad Mr. Pollo took it. The mixture of the steak, onions, french fries, rice, and that green sauce all meshed into one. I def came twice in my mouth by the end of this orgasmic meal. Food came out a little slower but prob due to it being made/cook to order, so not deducting points for that. Their water is really clean to taste (huge pet peeve when i end up drinking water that taste like it was bottle at Los Angeles Sewer Reservation). There's plenty of parking and they do provide a bathroom (a journey through the kitchen to get to it though). Will be back to try out their green spaghetti and their chicken. Also, pretty sure lomo saltado is peruvian for fucking delicious.

This is a my favorite Peruvian restaurant by far. I've eaten the Lomo Saltado, Salchipapa, Tallarines Verde and pretty much every dish on their menu. It is family owned, so you get a home cooked family meal vibe when you eat there. The service is great; every time I go I get nothing but smiles. I recommend that you order a side of Maduros with what ever you decide to eat. They are perfectly cooked and taste so good. Also they add Avocado to any dish, so yeah, you can't go wrong, people.

Came here to just try something new (Peruvian Food) and it was close by. This place is a small whole in the wall type of place in a strip of stores. You are not waited on and its more of a fast food version restaurant where you pay at the counter and sit down and food is brought to you The food is great and nicely priced. I tried multiple dishes since I went with a group. Tallarin Saldito is like a chow mien with carne asada which i tried with chicken as well both are really tasty and have alot of flavor. The rotisserie chicken is very moist and seasoned to perfection. They have a few sides to go with each dish i tried the salad, beans, and plantains. The plantains are cooked perfectly with a slight crunch on the outside and a sweet and savory middle. They have condiments that go well with whatever you get such as chimichurri sauce and a spicy green sauce. The only reason I did not give this place 5 stars is the seating and size of the place. They ask that you do not sit down and claim a table until you have ordered so if there is one table and you are in line it wont be there and no one can hold it while you are ordering. The place is always pretty full and maybe better to just get your food and eat in the comfort of your own home, since you may not get a table for awhile.

I came here during my lunch break under the suggestion of my husband and his co-worker. They said they've ordered here before and have enjoyed it several times already. I ordered ahead of time and picked up my order maybe 10 minutes after their suggested time (20 minutes), which might be the reason why my chicken was dry :( I ordered their combo #1 (1/4 chicken with garden salad and french fries (all for $5.78! What a steal!). The parking lot was packed when I arrived. Thank goodness I found parking nearby. It seems like everyone parked at the lot was in this restaurant because it too was full!! Judging by the number of people compacted in such a small space, I figured their food was really good. I changed my mind and decided to eat at the restaurant instead. I found a table next to a family literally eating a table full of food! They were certainly enjoying themselves :) I had to squeeze in to sit on my chair because the tables were so close together. With the small space and the dry chicken, I didn't enjoy my food too much. Next time, I'll have to come in before the suggested time to really see how good this place is. For now, this will do...

Just had lunch! ummm yummy! Half chicken and Green Spaghetti is definitely the way to go. And yes the green sauce is has a hidden kick that is perfect! Place was packed but ladies did a great job in cleaning and preping tables for next customers. So good, that they cleared out my seat when I got up to get sauce. They rectify the situation by getting me a new soda and food right away. So no harm done. Why have they not opened a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc place in the last 7 years? I mean, this place is printing money!!! It was a nonstop line and the food get push out quick! I did feel kinda bad eating the skin but all the flavor is in the skin.. what the heck you only live once!

Bomb chicken. Of the different latin (?) rotisserie chicken spots, I would say this one is the best. Tried a little bit of the lomo saltado. Very tasty as well. Can't wait to come back and eat it again. Yum.

Just thinking about what to write, I'm salivating already. Hands down the best Peruvian food I've ever had. The Lomo Saltado is very juicy and tender. Whole chicken is also as delist, even after I kept in the fridge for a few days. You know, it's just one of the best left over food that keeps getting better and better after a few days. Their green cilantro and garlic sauce is sooooo good. I can finish like one gallon by itself if my husband didn't stop me. Can't wait to go back!

I've been here twice, once for the chicken and the 2nd for the chicken but they ran out of chicken near their closing time (Fri, 9pm), so I ordered their lomo. I have mixed feelings about this place... great on the Peruvian chicken, not so much on the lomo saltado's beef quantity. What's up with that Mr. Pollo? Very ungenerous with the lomo beef quantity. Mr. Pollo's pollo a la brasa is really good. I like my chicken crispy in the outside and moist in the inside. Don't count on them having chicken near closing time, go early or pre-order. Lomo saltado's taste is right on target. Good presentation. I liked it very much but I don't think I'll be ordering anything except just the chicken. Very ungenerous with the beef... more fries, tomatoes and onions. Heads up, the beef are thinly cut squares, not your thick, juicy cut. You pay-at-the-counter and dishes are sent to your table. Restaurant gets crowded. Plenty of shopping center parking.

We ordered the Tallarin Verde con Bisteck and 1/2 chicken with 2 sides, mashed potatoes and rice. Everything was tasty, but the 1/2 chicken was a little on the small side. Downside, the place is really small and crowded, we had to wait a while for a table.

Only three stars because it's a tiny place with no room to eat and people lined up to order behind you while your eating. Next time I'll order to go or come after the lunch crowd has left. Four stars for the tender chicken and delicious green sauce that is spicy and tasty. I'm glad that I tried this place out. It's a good hole in the wall. I didn't realize it was Peruvian style food when this place was recommended to me. With a name like Mr. Pollo I was happy that the cashier explained the dishes to me and combinations. She was patient and friendly. I will definitely come back. This place hits the spot with ample food portions. I had to get a to go box for my left overs.

Food at Mr. Pollo is delicious, their service is good and fast even if the are always 100% packed they treat you right, that's good. We don't mind driving some miles if we'll be pleased with the food we are getting. Definitely one of the best peruvian rostisere chicken I've ever had, their other dishes are amazing too, the bistec a lo pobre was yummi and tallarines verdes oh my! They really should extend the place and have more tables.

What a treat! This place is the best. I had a half rotisserie chicken. It was fantastic. The price was right and the service was friendly. I'm from OC and just happened to be in the area. This restaurant can show Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken in Huntington Beach how to run a business!!! If you like Peruvian food don't waste your time if you are in Huntington Beach This place is worth the drive from OC.

I'm glad I picked up my order because their restaurant smells a bit funky. The smell reminds me of my grandma's kitchen in Mexico after she plucks the feathers out the chicken she has just slaughtered and sets it to boil. Anyway, the food is amazing!! Best fast-ish food I've had in a while! I had the tallarin verde with breaded chicken. The spices in the food are so delicious. They use just the right amount of garlic! My first time trying this place, but definitely not my last.

4.5 stars. Mr Pollo is one of those comfy in-your-neighborhood kind of joints. The chicken is one of the best-cooked I've ever had--including cheap joints AND higher end restaurants. It's so tender without the dryness and tastes even better with the green sauce, which has a slight spice to it. Use it for the fries too! The plantains are ok. They seem less processed than ones I've had at other places, but I also thought it compromised the taste. The wait was a little long for our food, hence the half star off.

  • James P.

The Rotisserie Chicken is excellent. Their french fries are good. Ahí is just right. I would have to say the chicken is the best item on their menu. However, I've only tried two of their dishes. The Lomo Saltado is not the best I've ever had. They hardly put any meat and it's mostly onions, tomatoes and french fries. In addition, it is not as tasty when compared to Intiraymi in Chinatown or El Rocoto in Cerritos. I'm half Peruvian so I know Peruvian food. I recommend calling in your order and take your food to go. This restaurant is very small and it can get very crowded. Bottom line is they get it right when it comes to chicken. After all their name is Mr. Pollo.

My most favoritest PERUVIAN Rotisserie joint... The rotisserie chicken is to DIE for.. but the best thing on the menu in my humble opinion is the BISTECK combo. I had: the Bisteck with a double salad (ask for "aguacate" avocado for an extra 1.50 they give you a lot), a side of rice, a side of plantains, and a side of beans. The rice here is so good. I love how the peruvians cook their rice in oil, as it is much more filling. I dump a ton of the AJI sauce and green hot sauce on the rice and it's totally different than any meal i've ever had in a Mexican restaurant. i can't tell the difference between Mexican, Cuban, and El Salvadorean... but Peruvian has much different flavors. it actually reminds me of Brazilian food. they have another Bisteck combo that's really popular that comes with fries and eggs, but i just can't eat it cuz of the diet. i also hear the Lomo Saltado is wonderful but again i like the Bisteck and the Whole Chicken so much that I've never had anything else. The "plantains" here are cooked without sugar i was really happy to find out, and they still taste great. The salad is iceberg which normally i hate, but this is the first time i've ever enjoyed an iceberg salad! i think it's because the dressing is so good. it's very light but really flavorful and tart. a good juxtaposition with the aji sauce which you MUST put on your rice. My only gripe is that there is no fried Yucca... :( Peruvian restaurants are HUGE in the Washington D.C. area where i lived for a while and back east they all offer fried yucca. for some reason, only the brazilian churrascarias offer fried yucca on the west coast.

If you've never had Peruvian food do yourself a favor and come here. Get the lomo saltado and drench it in the green pesto sauce. What the dish basically is strips of beef, grilled peppers, onions, and tomatoes, french fries, and rice topped with a bit of cilantro. I've heard their other dishes are delicious as well, like their chicken plates (their name is Mr. Pollo after all) I'm gonna come back to try some of their other dishes for sure.

No Bread that Im accustomed too when I visit a Peruvian Restaurant. Sad!!! Otherwise pretty good!!!! Parking is bad. Gets packed really quick. Not too much seating. Inside shopping center where employees also park...

Great Lomo and Pollo Saltado. Good quality meat. Great Chimichuri, Aji Verde (Peruvian green sauce), and a red chili paste that you can add complimentary with your food. Just wish they also had some Peruvian Chicken Cilantro soup.

Top 3 favorite local spots for sure! So good I kind of don't want to share the wealth but I will because this place deserves it. I been to a few Peruvian spots & for price & taste they just don't compare. I'm a healthy kind of guy... Yup sucks for me right! But the Combo #4 (chicken breast, rice, salad) with avocado cures my bitterness of being such a healthy kind of dude. I've also had the half chicken plate & of course the Lomo saltado & its the business! Can't go wrong with anything here. I eat here once a week no joke!

Located in a difficult to park strip mall one finds Mr Pollo with a long line of hungry customers. A large sign tells you not to take a table until you order because the place is generally packed. Large signs with colorful pictures display the food, on the left is traditional chicken dishes and the right are Peruvian dishes with the native names. The cost for most food items if very fair as they come with sides and a medium drink. The ordering area is cluttered and the most secret of sauces are located on the right side of the ordering area. The sauces are unique, a light green, garlicky creamy sauce that most customers splash on everything, while the bright - hot- sauce is used with more caution. There is a contain of an oily concoction with a green sediment floating on top - it is baffling to look at, but very tasty....There is not one way to use these sauces as everyone uses them to their choosing. The chicken is delicious and tossed green salad is great, the fries tend to be a bit cool, with pinto beans served very hot. The prices are fair...get their early and enjoy....The staff is attentive and quickly clean tables and are very pleasant. Go and enjoy....

Almost every time I come, it's almost guaranteed there are no seats to be found! This place is packed and you'll understand why once you tasted their food. Prices are reasonable and portions are a good size. Pretty much everything I've ordered at this place have been great, but I can't stop coming back for their roasted chicken and green spaghetti. And, what else I can't live without with every bite of that roasted chicken? The GREEN sauce! Just the right amount of kick to complement the great flavor of the chicken.

As I sit here in this establishment..... I am crying on the inside. I brought a few friends that have never been here. Food was great as always, but one of the girls found a short hair in the salad. We joked and laughed about it. Karma's a bitch because then when I opened my soda cup to go get a refill..... There was a fly stuck to the side of the inside wall of the cup. Manager was not there and the girls just replaced our items. The thing is, they replaced her salad, not the plate. Mixed reviews.

Came here after my boyfriend's coworkers brought him for lunch. There is always a crowd here! The chicken is pounded thin and cooked until tender and delicious! They have several combos you can choose from. I recommend chicken, rice and fries. Anything drenched in the delicious dark green Peruvian "pesto" sauce is the best! It has parsley and garlic and oil- can't go wrong! They also have this great pasta Verde that also comes with the tender chicken. I don't think I can say delicious enough in this one review. Also bring gum for afterward, you're going to need it! One tip: call and order ahead if you're heading in at lunchtime!

Delicious! I just love how polite they are to their customers. If you get anything with rice, it'll have a chicken stock flavor with it. So good. Honestly I just love everything on their menu. I wish it could be a tad cheaper though.

I'm not sure if it was an off day (for Mr. Pollo and/or for me) or if maybe I really am not as big of a fan of Purivian food as I thought, but I wasn't particularly wowed by Mr. Pollo... I very much enjoyed my first experience at the much less well-knowned Pollos Kikiryki in Claremont more... regardless this was A-OK. I came during lunch and there was a good 10+ minute wait for my food. A lot of people walked in and out having ordered over the phone, so if you're planning on Mr. Pollo... I'd suggest calling in your order. I got Combo #1 with 1/4 chicken, 2 medium sides - rice and fries, and a medium drink for ~$6.50. Not bad. There is a self serve sauce bar that included a Chimichurri sauce, a spicy cilantro Aji mayo, and a smokey/sweet red chili Aji sauce; the Chimichurri was prob my fave of the 3, but nothing really that amazing. The chicken was good and succulent, but the flavors were nothing extraordinary. The fries we're fries, rice was rice. Maybe I'll come back to give their lomo saltado a try.

This place came highly recommended for being simply yummy. And I cannot help but agree! It is small and easily passed up as another Mexican chicken place, but don't be deceived. It is Peruvian and far from Mexico. Their green sauce is to die for. I even tried to make it at home. Dip your fries in it, especially your chicken, poor it on rice mmmm! We haven't tried many more things, but will be back for sure!

My wife being of Peruvian descent, I have become quite familiar with the cuisine. We have tried many Peruvian restaurants, but this place takes it to a whole new level. The Pollo A La Brasa is rotisserie roasted to perfection by the hardwood fire, retaining the juiciness of the chicken meat and crisping the seasoned skin. The Lomo Saltado is very popular, and the Aji is spicy and mandatory. The Tallarin Verde tastes like the excellent homemade version by my mother-in-law. The only dish I feel can be improved is their huancaina sauce, which could stand to be quite a bit spicier. The place is constantly packed, which is a testament to their food! We are regulars here, dining on Peruvian comfort food on a weekly basis!

This place is no doubt the absolute best and most authentic Peruvian food ever... I stumbled on this place right after I was getting a checkup in at the dentist across the street where I wanted to grab a quick bite . I'm a sucker for finding little hole in the walls and honestly this place blew my mind... After tasting their chicken and chimichuri... I was doing that meem where I'm saying "come on bro where have you been all my life"... Legit way better than any fast food chain selling chicken by far! Seriously without even knowing this place was a Peruvian place I had the chance to go to Peru and bam found chicken places like this all over... I swear mr pollo offers all the little side dishes and main dishes like that lomo saltado... And let me tell you... They kill it! (In a good way... Scratch that in the most amazing way) everything tastes super authentic and reminds me of everything delicious they had to offer in Peru... If you come here you must try the chicken , at least one potato side dish and their national dish; that lomo saltado. Ultimate danky delicious goodness.

With a little under two hours to spare before I planned to start driving back to SF, I met up with some old high school friends here at Mr Pollo as my last meal in SoCal, last Thanksgiving weekend. Located in a slightly sketchy strip mall, Mr Pollo ended up being somewhat of an unfortunate decision: less so because of the food, and more so because of the lines. After a 30 minute wait due to the sudden dinner rush, and another 15 minute wait to get our food (all this after waiting 20 minutes for them to show up), I was pretty pinched for time, which necessitated that I scarf down my food and make a quick exit. But, I can say this of the tallado saltado I ordered: cheap and tasty, especially when eaten with their green salsa. To this day though, I remain puzzled as to why it tasted exactly like beef chow mein.

Really small place that is across Norms. I thought it was bigger but its always the small ones that turns out to have some fantastic food. My friend and I shared a plate of lomo saltado. Seems like everyone raves about it. Well, no joke it is an awesome dish. Seriously, both of us were so full with just one plate. The meat was delicious, tender, not chewy, soft, moist, never overcooked. The fries were super good...and even better when soaked in the juices. It just added so much flavor. The onions, tomatoes everything was the perfect match all together. Their salsa...the green one was sooo good. Spicy but just worked well. Amazing. I've never had peruvian food so this was definitely a great introduction to it. I would most likely be back for a quick lunch. YUMMY! -Give it a try! You won't be disappointed.

After seeing a review on the Channel 5 morning news this Sunday morning, I thought I would check it out myself for lunch. While there's nothing bad with the food, I would say it's OK for portions and taste. The chicken is almost good in fact, but my review of 2 stars is for the price. While the menu on the wall clearly showed $7.89 for a 1/2 chicken with 2 sides (fries and plantains is what I ordered), my receipt clearly showed $8.89. The fried rice for $8.99 isn't that much of a bargain. If you're going to raise your prices, legally you have to raise the advertised price first or at the same time. So watch your receipt...

It was my first time here, on recommendation by a friend who eats here often... I love Peruvian food. This is only the 2nd time I've had Peruvian rotisserie chicken. The chicken is flavorful. I was a bit surprised as how well it was seasoned though out. Very very good rotisserie. Though I'd say eat it fresh. Letting it sit allows it to dry out and I don't think it's as good later. The fried bananas were sweet and delicious. The rice was nicely cooked and seasoned. I looooove their selection of sauces. I also got the tallarin verde with chicken. It was ok... the tallarin was good though I still prefer Inka Mama in Aliso Viejo. The chicken was a bit dry. They don't use the same rotisserie chicken...this is chicken breast pounded and grilled... not flour coated and fried like my other experiences with this dish. They also give you the option of getting this with beef. I'm in the area regularly so I'd definitely give it a try again. Def. a great choice if you want rotisserie chicken :)

I love this place. I mainly like the fact that the chicken is cooked with wood, yet I like how everything tastes different than anything in a typical restaurant. The flavors of the chicken, the rice, noodles, salsas, and beans are different than per say Mexican food. One thing I don't like is that sometimes you can land with a chicken that has dry wings. I love wings.

I just gotta say yum! Sometimes great things come in small packages. This is one of those types of places. Great food at a small place. When you walk it you get bombarded with the amazing smell of the food cooking. It's nothing too fancy or too casual but you get the feel of the food just by looking around. I always get the lomo saltado and it's never let me down. It's as good as the ones I've had at my Peruvian friends' houses. It's very quaint and seems lax. Eating there is also quite an experience as the service there didn't feel like a business and it felt more like a family dinner. They were such nice people. It's definitely a place that you should try. If you don't you're missing out.

Food is amazing! But Service was horrendous. I ordered a drink with "NO ICE" and she gave me a drink with Ice. I told the lady nicely, "I ordered the drink with "NO ICE" can you make me another one please?" She took my cup lid off and scooped the ice out with her BARE HANDS!!!!!! and gave it back to me after topping it off. The look on my face... Priceless. Before I went to jail, i just tossed the drink in the trash grabbed my grub and walked out of their.

im not gonna lie when I arrived to this location I was a bit skeptical about it. At a first glance it looks like a hole in the wall restaurant. I decided to try it due to many good things i heard of this place. Must admit im soo glad I did! the food was delicious, no wonder they always have a line. Definitely will be returning!

I had never tried Peruvian food before this but Mr. Pollo definitely left me with a good first impression! DEFINITELY try the lomo saltado or the brown noodles....something Saltado. My friend got their chicken and it was really good as well! Nice and juicy (because we all know chicken can get dry at times). I tried the grilled steak plate that comes with 2 sides. They have a number of combos at great prices that come with 2 sides and a medium drink! They have some sort of ginger pastry that reminds me of caramel filled gingersnaps that are worth a try if you're still hungry! My favorite was the lomo saltado (with the beef!!)-it's basically beef in a savory sauce mixed with fries! You get a side of white buttery rice that goes well with the meat dish. You'll be surprised at how filling it is and how well fries and beef go together :) I gave this place 4/5 stars because of cleanliness!

As Seen on TV! Watching channel 4 news, some Elmer Dills kind of guy suggested this Peruvian Cafe... its located in a strip mall in Covina and has easy acess from the freeway. I have had Peruvain @ Marios before and for those of you who dont know..they LOVE potatoes, Baked , Boiled, Deep Fried and french fried...so be prepared to have papitas with what ever you order. we ordered the Papas Hurracanes for an appitizer ( basically boiled sliced potaotes covered with a bright yellow sauce and boild eggs) , it was tasty and very easy to share. Im not a meat eater so I had the Cauffea ( sic) with out chicken ( sub veggies) , its basically stir fried rice , I didnt realize how close Asian cooking and Peruvian cooking were. my date ordered a flat ironed Chicken Breast with Mashed lumpy poatoes ( just like mom makes ) and white rice. I must say if you are Mexican , it will be different , not bad at all just different. I used this KILLER GREEN kind of gaucamole looking sauce which was way hot! also this emerald green pesto like sauce which was pretty good. I would say this place had decent food on par with the more expensive Marios. where else can 2 eat for about 20.00 bucks. Not fancy, very fast service, Good prices. i was amazed to see about 15 people in the kitchen and that they used wok like pans. WARNING....dont go into the restroom..you must pass the kicthen to do this..it was insane...

About one of the only spots I go to eat in this area. Definitely the only chicken I'll eat. Once you have this Peruvian chicken... KFC, El Pollo Loco and even Roscoe's goes out the window. Very simple menu but very appealing taste. I usually prefer to call in my order and pick it up. Sometimes there is a long wait (avoid lunch time) so plan ahead if you're really hungry. Oh, and they have maracuya (maracuja/ passion fruit juice)... God Send.

I luv the lomo saltado here! Very tasty & a healthy serving for a reasonable price! It's a small place and if you eat there. You'll come out smelling like you were cooking in the kitchen, lol.

There isn't much I can add to the previous 56 + reviews that hasn't been said, it's all well covered ground. Although the main entrees are all pretty good, it's the little things about this place that make it great for me. I love the chimichurri sauce that they offer in the stainless steel containers on the right side as you face the cashier. I like the french fries and plantains, both of which make the meals for me. Technically, I haven't tried any of the other side orders, since I don't think that any other sides are going to measure up. I have also taken a strong liking to the chicha morada drink, which is made from purple corn. They offer samples of it, so there is no excuse for not trying it. The parking lot tends to suck during peak times, so expect a challenge trying to get out of the lot.

Within a 10 mile area, this place is pretty good and a good sub for the better places. Good value for the $. What is better Lomo? Inka Mama's in South OC What is better chicken? Pollo A La Brasa in Ktown or Gardena.

The Chicken in this place is one of the BEST. The only problem is that the place is toooo small. It's sometimes difficult to come in. The lomo saltado is also real good but a bit pricy.

I've had the pleasure of eating at Mr. Pollo twice now. The first time I had the Tallarine Saltado, which is spaghetti with onions, tomatoes and beef. It's pretty tasty. This last time I went with Tallarine Verde. The sauce is sort of a pesto. I'm fairly certain it's made with the amazing herb & oil stuff they serve on the side of everything. It was quite possibly one of my favorite dishes of all time. I had it with chicken, which was thin, a little tough and not terribly flavorful. You can get it with the beef, which I think is tastier. I also tried the purple corn drink this time. It was slightly sweet & very tasty and refreshing. The girl behind the counter actually let me taste both aguas so I could decide which I wanted, which I thought was nice. Definitely try to go at off-hours. This place has seating for about 30 people total and is very popular. The Good: - Decent prices - Great flavor - Lots of side options The Bad: - Crowded - Tables very close together - Chicken not as good as it should be at a place NAMED after it - No public bathroom Overall- I will definitely be back... but it might be for an order to-go.

Honest opinion this is probably the best South American chicken offered east of the 605 fwy. It's no El Pollo La Brasa in ktown but it'll do in the SGV. Chicken was good but not juicy enough. Limo Salito was fairly decent but it ain't no pollo inca either. So I guess the conclusion is it's a place to satisfied your South American craving when you don't feel like driving.

We have eaten here several times now. We always get the chicken, the lomo saltado, and the golden cola. The sauces are delicious and I have tried more than once to decipher the mystery ingredients in them. I brought some visiting relatives to this tiny restaurant and they loved the food. They said I should take everyone there! I'm a little torn about knocking off a star, but the place is too small and there isn't enough seating.

  • Mable Y.

The chicken is delicious here, thats a sure thing however.. The lomo saltado, the dish with sliced potatoes, and pretty much everything else that wasn't either pasta or chicken was extremely greasy. I do not think I will ever come back just because after eating a single meal here I felt like I needed to run.. for days, to clear my arteries.

We eat here often.....the food is good, homemade style food. Service is good considering that they are overwhelmed due to their popularity. The problem is that they have OUT GROWN their location. The place is very small, tables are too close together. Owner should start looking for a bigger location, he already has a large following clientele. Love the food......just wish they had larger place or a second location. FRANCHISE is the answer!

OMG!!! the best I've had so far.... Well to be honest i haven't really had much Peruvian food before so my knowledge of it isn't vast but OMG if this is what its like then i'm sold and Mr. Pollo sets the bar!! Even before i got there from the moment i walked in the aroma was soooooo gooood!!! I told my friend that that was already a good sign. I got the quarter chicken meal which i think is the combo 1 with a side of beans and rice. Service was quick and friendly to..... I mean what can i say it was awesome :D

Years ago we went to a Peruvian restaurant here in Pasadena. Don't remember the name, wasn't impressed and never went back. Its long gone now as I probably wasn't the only one who felt that way about it. Point is, I wrote off Peruvian food. By my friend kept raving about Mr. Pollo, so lets give it a try. First sign you're onto something, is that its packed when you go in for lunch. Its a small place in a mini-mall, you wouldn't know it was there unless you were looking for it. So when a little place like this has a line out to the door, you can fairly suspect they're on to something. Okay, I'll have the Lomo Saltado as that is what I've heard so much about. But give me some of that pesto spaghetti with chicken to go, we'll have that for dinner with the family. Gimmie one of those Inka Colas, too. While I'm waiting for the order, a young lady is gathering up some sauces in little cups. In particular shes scooping up this green sauce that looks like cilantro or parsley. I ask her, whats in that? She says she doesn't know, but *I* need to get some too. With that, she scoops up two cups for me to take with my order. Alright then. Take the food back to the office and dig in. The Lomo Salado is grub. Beef, french fries and gravy with some tomatoes. I'm with that. The whole dish gets demolished and I don't care who is watching. That evening, we dig into the spaghetti and that was grub, too. Mix in some of that green sauce and we've gone to the next level. Damn I got to tell somebody about this. The in-laws live close by Mr. Pollo, and I alert them to the hidden yummage in their neighborhood. They try it and come back thanking me for the heads up. A few more coworkers get word of Mr. Pollo and report their own satisfaction. We have a winner. It is universally recognized that I am a man of taste and culture. In so far as where to eat, at least. Finally, as a side note, the Inka Cola was surprisingly good. I was expecting something syrupy and strong tasting like a Coke, but its light and vaguely fruity. I'll have to find a six pack of that and keep it in the fridge at home.

Seriously, not all that great!!!! Their green sauce sucked!!! LOMO saltado was loaded with fries and a few strips of beef. Milanesea de pollo was a little on the bland side. Place gets super packed and smells like heavy smoke firewood ( very stuffy) . I wouldn't come back here. The food takes at least 30+ mins to at least be ready. Not worth the wait at all.

Oh my Delicious Goodness! So just moving from LBC to the San Gabriel Valley really threw me a good one in trying to find new favorite bites. Especially after finding in what my opinion is the very best Peruvian restaurant, this place has met my standard of great fast, affordable, Peruvian eats. I personally love the saltado de lomo and the bistec del probre with the fried plantains. Selection is small but the food is so tasty! This place is a small, super casual restaurant with a select few items on the menu FYI, come hungry not picky. I just found this spot and have already eaten here 5 times in 2 weeks!

First time trying Peruvian food. It was nice. Tried the chicken fried rice with the different sauces they offer. All if them were tasty and the portions are large. I'll try to come back if I'm in the area. Food took a while to prepare, but that is expected because of how busy they are, plus it's fresh.

This isn't another Pollo Loco, this is PERUVIAN rotisserie chicken. My family and I have been coming to Mr. Pollo ever since it opened. We usually get our chicken from Kikryiki, but because we live literally down the street and don't want to drive all the way to Claremont we just go here. I always get Bistek a Lo Pobre which comes with a side of rice, french fries, eggs and fried plantains. Not a big fan of their Lomo saltado, feel like they put too much soy sauce. The Papa a la Huancaína is delicious, so if you're in a group and want to share an appetizer this is perfect. Arroz chaufa and tallarin saltado also good choices, but I'd stick to getting the chicken instead. Chicken is tender, juicy and is made fresh. If you're in a hurry just call in your order, or else waiting takes about 10-15 minutes since the chicken is made fresh. Portions are big, good for sharing!! If you want that extra spice try their aji (green sauce), goes well with everything. To complete your meal, down it some chicha. There is a bathroom, but it's not really for customers. You have to go through the kitchen, which is pretty awkward. So come with an empty bladder. Staff is friendly and the owners are super nice!! Oh, almost forgot - don't leave without trying their dessert --- alfajores!! If you're a fan of dulce de leche, you'll like these cookies.

  • Sylvia L.

Love this place! Their rotisserie chicken is so good and so is their tallarin verde con bistek, yum! You need to try the causa too. Whenever we drive through here, we always have to drop in. We find its better to call in our order and pick up as opposed to dining in. It gets really packed in there. Of course, that's a good sign- but if you don't want to eat practically shoulder to shoulder with other people, take it to go!

Yum, yum, and more YUM! This place makes me love Peruvian food! Anything mixed up with fries is just a dream come true. The salsa verde is especially delicious and goes well with everything. Everything on the menu is great. Sometimes there is a long wait, so you might want to consider calling in for your order. Trust me, Mr. Pollo is worth every bite.

Mr. Pollo is definitely a hidden gem. Didn't even know this place exist until recently. Came here for lunch and we ordered the lomo saltado & a full chicken with french fries for 4 people. The chicken was so tender and juicy--just the way i like it : ) The chicken is already very flavorful, but dipping it in the green sauce makes it extra delicious! The lomo saltado is pretty tasty--marinated meat, red onions, tomatoes and potatoes. It comes with a side of rice (pour the garlic cilantro sauce over and enjoy!). Will definitely be coming back : )

  • Erin W.

While I don't think the chicken is as amazing as everyone makes it out to be, it will do for my pollo a la brasa cravings since it's the closest to where I live. The fries, however, will not do. At least they are not greasy, but they are so dry I don't think they have a drop of grease on them. Was happy to see last time that they now have causa. Tried it and it's aight, probably wouldn't order it again though.

Plain and simple, Best rotisserie chicken ever. Much better than my previous fav zankou. Don't be afraid to try the other dishes too. My favorites are the meat lomo saltado and the arroz chaufa

My co-worker loves to eat. He would talk about this place, but would never let us know when he was going. Finally one day he did. The first time there I got the 2pc (chicken w/ rice & beans) I think. Another time I got the 2pc again but with different sides. Last week when we went, I decided to try the fried rice (forgive for not using the proper name). This rice was AMAZING!!!!! It has the rice, eggs, green onions, and chunks of chicken. The chicken is marinated so well. Then it is as if they sauteed it a few moments. My co-workers said they could taste ginger in the rice as well. I've never had fried rice like this before. It's also available with beef/steak. Another co-worker drizzled some of the light green sauce on hers. She said it made it even better. The portions are plentyful. A woman was there with 3 kids. She ordered the fried rice & a noodles dish. It was more than enough for them to eat off of. Please beware..... if you eat there, be prepared to smell like smoke when you leave. Please try it!!!!

Their chicken is really good. but the chimichuri sauce is the best. and this place will fill you up without making you feel unhealthy.

This is my first experience of Peruvian cooking (Chifa Style) Go ahead, google "chifa." We ordered the whole (small) chicken with 2 sides - $15.00 - Not bad in taste, well- marinated...but, after you eat that a few times, chicken is chicken, no matter what part of the world it came from. My first Peruvian-style chicken was El Pollo Rico in Arlington, VA. It was good, but, no chicken is worth flying across the country for. We also ordered the lomo saltado....At first glance of the Lomo Saltado - Stir-fried beef with tomatoes, onions and french fries brings back memories of my experimental days in the kitchen. The taste kinda remind me of several countries blended together - China , Philippines and Italy, but, it worked well together.. I liked it a lot! Next time, I'll try the chicken fried rice - chaufa de pollo or beef fried rice - chaufa de carne and definitely get another order of lomo saltado with extra order of arroz de Chino.

The restaurant was part of Burrows Bite's weekend KTLA, so I was curious to try. It was definitely a good value! The chicken was very moist and tasty. Love the aji spicy sauce.

First time there yesterday and i would have to say it was the best peruvian food I've ever tasted. Better than pollo inka, inka grill, and El Rocoto. Must try their Chicken and lomo saltado.

I tried the 1/2 chicken with the fries and plantains and I wasn't amazed by the taste. It tasted better with the green sauce though and the french fries are kind of like the In-N-Out fries but bigger. The cookie was great, too bad it costs 1.80 for 1 which I think it's pretty expensive for that small size cookie. Other than that, I haven't tried the other dishes, will give it another try. Fyi, there are no refills for the passion fruit juice, only for fountain drinks.

Their Lomo Saltado is the best! Rotisserie chicken is moist and flavorful. Place is pretty small and located in a strip mall with limited parking, however don't let that fool you or dissuade you from giving it a chance. If you're in the mood for Peruvian food, Mr. Pollo is the place to go!

Always a good choice for lunch/dinner. Something about the chicken is just so tasty. Even the rice has a distinct taste here. Try to come during odd hours or take it to go because the dining room can get cramped pretty quick.

Amazing Peruvian chicken! Would definitely come here again when I'm in the area. Got 1/2 chicken with excellent selection of sauces that was VERY good. Also got rice and fries as sides. Total was about 8.50 for a whole lotta food. Match made in heaven :) we went during lunchtime and it was packed! But they do have a good amount of table for such a small space.

Went back last weekend. Ordered a full chicken + fries + beans and an order of Tricolor Ice Cream ($10). Food was good as always. The ice cream was amazing. Very pricey, but it's a Peruvian import--what can I expect? It's a mixture of Lúcuma, Vanilla, and Strawberry (hence 'Tri'color) ice creams and the texture is creamier and lighter than what we Americans are used to. It almost had the texture of a mousse. They do have smaller tubs of this flavor for like $5, so I'd recommend trying that if you're not sure if you'll like it! (you will, so might as well pick up that $10 tub).

I had the pollo saltado and some of the chicken. The food is very flavorful. The portions are large. You definitely get your money's worth. I had to take 1/2 my food to go. The service is great. The location could be a little bigger because the tables are a bit crammed. Other than that, great meal! I will definitely be returning.

Everytime I leave this place (about once a week) I smell delicious. I always order their grilled chicken with a side of salad and mash potatos. It's definitely their green sauce and parsley/olive oil sauce that makes their food so tasty. That or crack.. cuz it's addicting! The place is always crowded during lunch so sometimes you can't even get a seat. The line is always to the door, I think it's time for them to expand.

Get the LOMO SALTADO! Be sure to get the green sauce, too. It's spicy but delicious

Everything that I've tried in this place was great. I usually get the tallarin saltado which is spaghetti noodles with different spices and your choice of meat. The chicken and rice combo is also awesome especially with the green sauce! It does get super busy so make sure you order ahead or have a long lunch break

Moved to the area a few years back. One of the first things i did was go on yelp and look for food spots in the area. Boy was i glad to find Mr. Pollo. Haven't had anything here but the lomo saltado, that alone is enough to keep me coming back.
